egg ID - northern South Dakota, May 2024

Sorry for the potato quality photo. I would guess northern bobwhite quail, but they look darker than quail egg photos I'm seeing online.

I would second Killdeer eggs. This is the exact medium they like to lay their eggs on

  They’re such neat birds. I see them and their nests on my job site and I love watching them skitter around and yell at anything that moves.
That seems so... open and obvious. Is that normal placement?
