Honestly considering carrying a brick around with me to see if people still want to cut me off at zebra crossings. Had a dude turn his head to stare at me while he nearly ran me over at a crossing and then he had the audacity to give me the 'thanks' hand wave...
Every single day I go outside I nearly get ran over, but it's always at crossings and not when I'm jaywalking. Pisses me off so much.
Had my once-every-many-weeks check of LinkedIn on the desktop to see connection requests and the like. Found myself hit with that pang of realising how stagnant I was for years at my past role - can't blame the workplace entirely, but I feel like I lost so much of my more passionate years while hamstrung by visa conditions. I have the freedom now but not as much excitement any more...
Something definitely needs to change. I don't have huge ambitions but I also want to aim a little higher (in a sustainable way).... think with whatever experience I get in the next year and a half or so, I might be able to shift my career into something more interesting or substantial. Maybe do a formal qualification in spatial tech and get a gig in some cool environmental fieldwork company.
I'm going to Daiso to buy some shit I don't need. It's my first time there although I vaguely remember there being one in Airport West many many moons ago or something similar. Anyway I'm off to buy some cute shit.
City outing with the fam today. Dinner on Lygon street. Ordered a beer and the waiter put it in front of my son. We had a chuckle and asked the waiter how old did he think my son was. The dude said 18+20 for sure.
I think it made my son's, who is actually 14, year.
I got an ad for one of those shitty story apps where you pay like 6 bucks a month to read stories that Chatpgp thing wrote, and their ad is kinda hilarious
I have a theory that cats are actually talking to us but we can't understand because they actually speak with a very heavy Glaswegian accent. Like Rab Nesbitt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k7VoFiagfs
Hating the darkness - struggle to see properly driving in the dark with the oncoming bright car headlights. I bought some yellow glasses to try. Canโt avoid it due to work.
My breakfast/lunch: Coles roast chook sandwich featuring: Coleslaw, buttered Wonderwhite White bread, hot sauce, cheese, salt and pepper. Holy smokes it was incredible
Goddamn Minh Phat. so easy to spend so much on delicious condiments and dried and frozen goods and everything. Most of what I've bought should last me for half a year at least though. The $30 worth of dried mushrooms in particular. 500g goes a long way and these small mushrooms are great as they rehydrate a lot faster, no need to prep so far in advance.
I've done very little today except prepare meals for family and watch short films (thankyou to those who mentioned it in yesterday's thread, it's an addictive habit lol). I bought Miniest an ocarina as part of her birthday present and they had one with a cracked glaze for cheap, so I got it as well. We've been attempting to play them and the eldest said it's like being in a room full of apprentice snake charmers. I can sort of play "The Rose" but it'll take a fair bit more practise before I can play well. Drew us a D major finger position chart thingy, which really helps.
My Woolies order arrived three hours late and turned out not to be mine at all. So I still don't have any useful groceries and I need to find somewhere to donate a big box of nappies.
I know daylight savings cops a lot of flack, but the nights it ends are awesome. Extra late omega ultimate deluxe party night! Or if you're of the get off my lawn!/yelling at clouds age, it's a free sleep in! Unless you have kids, then you don't get either. Unless you ditch the kids, then you get both!
Pour one out for the staff at the Arts Centre where the website (the one people need to download their tickets) is down on a Saturday night during comedy festival ๐ฅ
So Aldi has branded clothing (as in "Aldi" brand) limited edition coming next week. I assume there must be a market for it, since they wouldn't sell it if they didn't think people would buy it. But I'm left wondering whether there are going to be people lining up at opening for their chance to own an Aldi hoodie or T-shirt.
A beautiful day launching the new kids club at our neighbourhood house. We had almost 40 families join us and all the snags got eaten.
This was the first event I took a back seat on and I initially felt really guilty "leaving everyone else to do all the work" (even though my stepping back was planned and carefully negotiated, as I'm still dealing with mystery health issues) but the entire team remarked that it all came together easily as "many hands make light work" and for once we had enough funding to bring on the appropriate number of staff for the project!
The weather held out and I met so many amazing locals, I couldn't have asked for a better day.
And the timing worked out perfectly with the MRI I'd been scheduled for. Packed up after the event jumped on the bus, and got there at the exact right time.
Am I the only one who finds getting an MRI relaxing? It's an excuse to lie down and be still while zoning out and pretending I'm being faxed somewhere. The technician tried playing me some Muzak over the headphones and laughed when I asked her to stop because it was messing with my ability to enjoy the magnetic dubstep.
Had an appointment for an NBN tech visit yesterday morning, cause the internet in the place we moved into was shot. Mate came in at 830 in the morning.
He quickly determined it wasn't our box that's the problem, but a faulty thingamajig on the street post, but he didn't have the right parts on him. He had to leave, but he promised he'd get it sorted within the day. We were prepared to wait it out until the Monday, but mate came back on at almost 7pm on a Friday, just to get it sorted like he said, and sorted it he did.
Just thought that was so nice of him, and I really appreciate it. Gave him a drink early on, but wish I gave him more of it, and hopefully he doesn't mind all his work went into a night's worth of very bad Dota.
