You need to clear cache / cookies.

Just type lemmy.ml/c/communityname@lemmy.world while logged in at lemmy.ml

Do a refresh if it gives you an error the first time.

Everything is more or less public. Subscriptions stay between your server and the server you subscribe to in theory, but you'd have to trust those servers not to leak anything.

As an instance admin I gladly host user files.

One thing to take into account is that images posted by an instanceA user on an instanceB community will still be hosted on instance A.

So as long as an instance doesn't host more users than it can handle it should be fine.

I believe it can spoil if exposed to high humidity or water.

Possibly, but it would have to be so severely locked down that it makes more sense to have a web interface with a few buttons that do some very basic actions, including making my phone ring or stuff like that.

No, we wouldn't be immune to downvotes. We just wouldn't see them. On instances with downvotes enabled users would be able to see the downvotes we receive and their algorithm would take that into account.

lemmy-ui actually groups them together. It all depends on the app / frontend implementation that you're using.

I haven't been able to look deeper into it, but for some reason the user input wasn't properly sanitized when a custom emoji from one local's instance was used.

I've got a few meetings now, but will try to look more into later.
