  • If people are ripping around on dirt bikes already a Surron or similar night be a good bet. The only issue is then you lose it on the ability to pedal. There are similar bikes that also have vin numbers if you actually wanted to go legal at some point but dirt bikes aren't street legal without extras anyway and it sounds like enforcement is lax.

The electric unicycle idea is also pretty cool. They look to me like skiing but on the street. So you'd actually get exercise even if it's working different muscles than a bicycle. But if you go that route you'll need to go the extra mile on safety gear.

As someone else stated, 35mph the whole way is a lot on an ebike, even bringing that down to 30 extends the range a lot. There may be some road or gravel bike that has the range you're looking for if your flexible on the speed. Those seem more fun imo, but the YouTube channel TailhappyTV has shown off ebikes that go 100 miles on a charge. I haven't seen the speeds at which they go but in my opinion a long ride means more time to listen to audio books.

    Either way good luck!

  • Yeah, you're right. I'm glad that they're paid more and I'm glad tipping is still possible but it just seems super uncool to remove the prompt.

I had an argument with a coworker once about their second job. They said they blacklist people who don't tip them for delivering pizza. I was surprised and asked them to explain and they said that most of their money came from tips. Without it they made state minimum wage and the job wasn't worth it.

I said they should be paid better.

My coworker responded that they are paid better by people tipping and that's why they blacklist people who don't tip.

I followed it up by pushing the idea that the restaurant should be paying them more so that the job is worth it without tips. And well... The whole thing devolved for some reason and almost ended with me getting punched.

Either way I think you should be paid a living wage and have the ability to get tips for going above and beyond. Tipping shouldn't be the norm/required but it should be available and it sounds like it is in this case just a bit more hidden.

  • Amazon is a company in the technology sector. They might be a retailer but they are also a part of big tech and the foundation of much of the Internet. A large portion of their workforce are tech workers.

Articles like this are not focused on warehouse employees, they have to go into the office to do their jobs at all. This article is talking about people who don't have to go into work to perform their job... Like tech workers.

So like it or not, this is tech news.

  • I finally deleted Twitter from my phone a couple weeks ago.

I only used it for porn for the last 3 years and hadn't been on in over a month but I saw an article on here and was curious. So I opened it up and looked to see how the porn situation was going. I was going to keep it around if I could find a bit of good porn. But I scrolled and scrolled down through my feed and I only had politics, bigots, ragebait, and hateporn. I hadn't realized it had gotten so bad... I also have no idea where all my porn creators fled to.

Oh well, nothing of value was lost.

  • Hopefully this will include groceries. I hate when I go to buy something and it says $9.99 and I get up to the register and they hit me with this stupid, obnoxious hidden fee!

I only have a $10 bill, it says it costs less then $10. Why is it not false advertising to have it say $9.99 when it costs $12.37 at the register?

The whole thing is a scam.

  • It's difficult for me to be happy seeing Google do all this, however a lot of what they are doing is actually pretty cool. A couple years ago when there was a wildfire 7 miles away I was able to watch the spread and know when I wanted to get out. It was a bit clunky to get to but that was through Google. It was clear and concise and it was updated at the same time as the first service websites.

  • At the end of the article it says he's being held at a mental hospital until he is well enough to serve his sentence.

    Fuuck.

I get it but this reads as:

Be mentally unwell Get seduced by chatbot to commit treason Get caught receive the help you need to be a stable human Spend 9 years in prison Get released as a mentally unwell individual

There's some weirdness going on with how Ukraine didn't ban Nazi symbols relating to this unit.

In Canada courts determined they couldn't condemn the unit as a whole which is not cool but you can condemn individuals.

But the real truth seems to be that this poster is posting anti-Ukraine propaganda. By reading deeper into the subtext, and in light of Russian propaganda where they propose that Ukrainians are nazis. This would seem to indicate that the OP is a pro-russian sympathizer.

  • It also gives you a way to interact with social situations where you feel awkward. Or if you're like me and you are awkward it gives you positive learning social situations. Makes it much harder to quit when you get suicidal interactions that you're craving and don't otherwise get.

  • I have to admit, I've not seen the videos in question here but FriendlyJordies had been putting it videos talking about and exposing corruption in Australian and NSW governments. Even having his house fire bombed over exposing some of this corruption. I think I saw a video talking about this case from him and I have to admit I've never heard the term "wog" before and it doesn't look or sound like much... But that's part of the insidiousness of a slur. Jordies videos have targeted individual politician in the past and I believe this guy in particular because of their corrupt dealings and or ties to the mafia and or general anti-citizen/anti-poor policies.

From what I've seen of Jordies, I would assume he either believed that this politician way forfeited his right to feel bad about the names he's called, kind of like Trump here in the States, or just didn't understand how much emotional damage he was causing. I'm not saying this makes it right but there is likely more to the story than what has been brought up in the court case. I think Australia has some laws about speaking civilly about public figures and it looks like he ran afoul of those laws.
