  • I don't listen to podcasts often. But I like:

    • Citations Needed: a podcast about media. Basically goes into how media covers some events and topics from a leftist perspective.
    • Cane and Rinse: video game discussions and analyses. Each episode covers a specific game
  • I'm sure there are fine people on Reddit who don't know about Lemmy, but your quoted examples consist mostly of certain type of faux-"apolitical" person and that's where the solutioning is stemming from.

I don't think bringing the average default sub Redditor over would be a net positive for the platform.

  • If anything is too bad, it's .world being so prominent.

Half this comm's activity is spreading FUD about the platform and being a gathering place for all the people developing their alternatives to huddle and advertise those.

  • Why would they learn anything? The entire .world instance, Dem Reddit/Twitter, etc. does nothing but run defense for them, tell everyone they need to vote for them no matter what, and browbeat everyone who engages in criticism of the party during every election season, local and national.

  • What does that possibly have to do with Biden choosing to abuse his clemency powers to spare his failson from the consequences of his actions?

This isn't an act of progressive or socialist will. This is just another example of a two tiered justice system in this country but also fuel for the fascists. I don't see a reason to celebrate this unless you're a Biden.

  • Democrats, especially the hardcore blue MAGA types, will never duck the "elitist" critiques.

2/3 of this comment section are a bunch of PMC labor aristocrats running defense for millionaires.

  • Why do you guys pretend to understand the electoral college in one breath and in the other assume every critic of the Democratic party lives in NC, GA, PA, MI, etc.?

My vote would have literally been more wasted voting for Kamala in a deep red state. At least a third party vote could get your party to notice something.

The vast majority of Americans do not live in swing states.

  • They aren't perfect, and as stated elsewhere they are in a period of Dengist based socialism. However, they are extremely successful, very popular within their country from all sources that could be called evidence (especially compared to the US government), and do far less to acquiesce to the billionaires compared to West, seemingly (charging and sentencing billionaires for corruption, cracking down on financiers, etc). I think another user had a good point too about looking at the amount they have per capital.

They are the most successful nation practicing a form of socialism in the modern world and offering an alternative to liberal capitalism.

    There's a reason it's called critical support.

  • Yeah whatever, that's a feature. Reddit became worse once it became a safe place for conservatives and center-right liberals to gather.

Conservative, TheDonald, KiA, red pill, et. all made Reddit worse.

I don't want a second Reddit. Can better avoid eternal September issues if they self select to fuck off

But I guess that's what .world is for.

  • This was a referendum on neoliberal business as usual and they lost, hard.

You would have thought people in this country would have learned that in 2016 when Trump ran against NAFTA and with a populist message that, yes, used immigrants as a scapegoat.

But the neoliberal elite of the party continue to show nothing but disdain for populism, evidenced by how they treated Bernie and choosing candidates who literally run on nothing "fundamentally" changing.

  • Hey look, someone who learned nothing in 2016 and continues to show they've learned nothing in this election too.

I'm sure the chastisements and lectures are going to help with dispelling the notion that the Democratic party is a party of smug elitists.
