Reddit Refugees on Lemmy, how are you guys liking lemmy so far?
  • Most notable is that there are way more people discussing, there are tons of more content, more instances, so basically just more, there are still things that are missing like really niche stuff that I really used to enjoy over on reddit, like r/shorthand, and r/sudoku and so on, but we'll have to se :) Maybe we will grow to a size where that is possible.

  • Reddit Refugees on Lemmy, how are you guys liking lemmy so far?
  • I think that's a user influx problem, we've had it multiple times over at mastodon as well, usually it dies down again after a couple of weeks, and we can just concentrate on other things instead, at least until a new wave of users arrive :)

  • Does anyone find Mastodon to be beneficial in any way?
  • I've been on mastodon for 4 or so years ago, it takes a bit of time to build up people that you like to follow, which is really important on mastodon, since they are your algorithm, I find new people from the boosts of people that I know and trust, find new interesting people, and my feed is so full that there is always something going on, and I don't really have a chance to read it all.

I'm also not really into "high-profile" people, so I guess that helps as well.

  • Will there really be a big influx of users on the 30th?
  • NSFW content (posts, profiles, and subs) will also not be available via the app, so moderators and users won’t be able to see any, which will also make moderation more difficult.

They have claimed at least that it will be for moderators on the sub, it's still really shit don't get me wrong, but at least that is something.

It’s unclear whether the official app will be affected, or whether Reddit has a secret API that will exempt it from those restrictions, similar to how they implement the other functions.

The official app will continue on being the same shitty mess that it is, it will have access to NSFW stuff, but will still be totally inadequate for moderation.

  • Real question: Why don't the mods just all quit?
  • I quit, I stayed on for the protests because it felt nice to work together on it, and then when the sub I was moderating decided they didn't want to take part in the protest anymore I deleted all my posts and my account.
