Portable Music Player with Open Source Firmware and CAD Files (Now in production)
  • Most flagship phones have removed the 3.5mm headphone jack, leaving you with poor options for audio quality.

USB-C is good for charging but bad for wired headphones: any little movement of the USB-C plug can cause the headphones and sound to disconnect. Bluetooth is also a lot poorer music quality compared to wired connections.

Why not just use your mobile phone ? (I’m not very knowledgeable about audio stuff)

I would if manufacturers stopped removing the 3.5mm jack from flagship phones.

Or if UBC-C wasn't such a poor experience for wired headphones.

  • Portable Music Player with Open Source Firmware and CAD Files (Now in production)
  • This is analog in the sense that it has a Digital to Analog "Cirrus Logic WM8523 DAC"converter and a 3.5mm headphone jack, so does indeed enable analog if you use a wired headphone, and it is absolutely a step in the right direction over shitty bluetooth quality audio.

  • MNT Reform Next - A 12.5" modular, future-proof, open hardware laptop.
  • Yeah I'm pretty excited about that, even if the layout is a bit wonky and the key sizes are a one-off (the left and right most fat "1u" keys look more like 1.25u so it might be a bit hard to get a custom keycap set going for it.

  • Running Plasma instead of Gnome for the first time in years
  • As a new linux user I was overwhelmed by plasma and all the choices. I much prefer an OS and DE that feels like it isn't there and gets out of my way. It was all a bit too distracting, so I went back to Gnome like DEs (Cinnamon and now Cosmic).

Something like your suggestion, with basic settings first and then a deeper layer or toggle for advanced settings would have kept me on the platform longer.

  • A few Lemmy.world users have been complaining that the website is slow for them, what is your experience?
  • When I click to post the comment, I get a loading circle gif that just spins forever. Tried waiting it out for a few minutes but nothing happens.

And to my knowledge lemmy doesnt do shadow bans so I would at keast know if I had been banned there.

Edit: previously I cleared cache, tried different browsers and devices, logged out and in again, nothing worked. I also just tested and I can't create posts from lemmy.world account either.

Edit2: looks like it was related to VPN use and some flagging of my session/connection, maybe cloudflare on lemmy.world

  • LDAC
  • "On 17 September 2019, the Japan Audio Society (JAS) certified LDAC with their Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification."

Something something oxymoron. Bluetooth is trash, its why I still use wired whenever I can.
