Since there's no "Lord StarTron" in Star Trek, I'm guessing this is just a 0 mask. Why put it there?
Your average normie's gonna look at that and say: "Star Trek BS, I don't wanna think that much," and forget all about it.
Your average Trekkie's gonna mention it to every other Trekkie they know, and thus expand the reach of the flyer. Everyone has at least one Trekkie friend.
The intended recipient's gonna look up "Lord StarTron", see nothing, and then out of desperation just add the birthday to the mask and try that number (which is the right answer)
If I had to take a guess, I'd say it might be bc that movie is region-locked. That movie seems to be currently available in the US. So on the back-end they probably have one service that delivers the home page but doesn't check for regional availability (poor design!), and only when the movie-specific page is accessed do they check for regional availability. But that's just a hypothesis.
The Stand in the Schoolhouse Door took place at Foster Auditorium at the University of Alabama on June 11, 1963. In a symbolic attempt to keep his inaugural promise of "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever" and stop the desegregation of schools, George Wallace, the Democratic Governor of Alabama, stood at the door of the auditorium as if to block the way of the two African American students attempting to enter: Vivian Malone and James Hood.[1]
This was before the Southern Strategy, in which the Republicans took over as the preeminent supporters of overt racism.
Surprising how such harsh and atonal sounds can be so melodic. This is the sign of someone who's been doing this for a long time. (since 2005 apparently)
That's a great comparison. Another point of reference is John Carpenter's "The Thing" -- there's a scene in Sinners that echoes it. (at least I think so... when I saw The Thing as a kid it freaked me out so much I haven't been able to watch it again.)
Yeah that's a good point, there definitely was a first half vs second half. And the action wasn't really "Marvel style". But Coogler and Jordan know how to make Marvel-style movies and I don't think that was the goal here. When I watch it again I'm gonna look more closely at the action.
OP is clearly trolling, but this is the most balanced take on the article.
Reflect on yourself first
Agreed. The article mentioned a "Biblical perspective", and I vaguely remember something about Jesus saying if your eye offends you pluck it out. He didn't actually make his disciples pluck out their eyes tho, I think he was saying if there's a problem it's with the viewer, not the observed.
aw yeah... I listened to songs 8 and 9 then jumped to song 1 and everything was mellow and I was in the kitchen with it playing through an earbud when that song 2 came on. It was definitely pretty energizing.
Admittedly that's subjective, but personally I thought the story and pacing were near-perfect. When I saw the previews I was wondering if it'd just be two movies poorly grafted together, but no, ultimately it all fit together really well. I'm still "processing" tho, might need to see it again to really think about it.
Nice find. The ads from the VHS rip (and a primitive 3D graphics logo!) at the beginning are fun, but if you want to skip them the movie starts here: https://youtu.be/kS-RzrlKZJo?t=407
e: just finished watching it. great movie, I'd read some Clive Barker as a kid but for some reason hadn't seen this film.
True story: I've been having problems with my desk chair, and right after the movie was over I turned it over to try to fix with it. I'd added a nut-and-bolt but I was trying to replace it with a better one, and the MFer just wasn't fitting, even though I was straining and trying to get it to line up. Then suddenly it CLICKed and the bolt went in! But just then this reddish/brownish fluid dropped out of nowhere! And I was like OH SHIT ITS THE CENOBITES!!! But nah, it was just some lubricant I'd added a little while ago.
