After the blackout...
  • Definitely here to stay. Even deleted app from my phone and put a bookmark to lemmy where the app used to be. Now I access lemmy as much as I used to Reddit purely because of muscle memory / force of habit and don’t miss Reddit one bit.

  • I agree. it’s mostly has fad value. Although I did not find it so bad but it’s not the best in the world either. Coffee had a bit of tangy taste along with bitterness of normal black coffee. Not keen on drinking it again.

The one I saw, although was in a cage, it was eating papaya so maybe they are fed variety of food not just coffee beans.

  • Goodbye Reddit
  • Force of habit is a very real thing. Create a shortcut of lemmy bookmark and put in place where old Reddit app icon used to be. iPhone safari allows placing bookmarks on home screen and lemmy works mostly like an app when you do that. Android also has that feature.

Replace Reddit phone app placement with lemmy bookmark and you will instantly find yourself using only lemmy.

Don't tell people "it's easy", and six more things KBin, Lemmy, and the fediverse can learn from Mastodon
  • Yes almost all guides and introductions goes into activity pubs and feds. General users don’t care. Just point them to a “website” to sign up on and how to reach the content. Eventually we all will learn about the cool underlying tech.

Information overload is a very real thing for new users.

  • For everyone new to Lemmy, how are you finding the experience?
  • Great so far. I am on .word shit just works and kbin. Trying to decide which one I like more and as a fail safe during downtime of one instance. But getting a hang of lemmy (and kbin) I like it so far after 7 years of daily Reddit.
