Jellyfin, we are moving away from Reddit and we are pleased to announce our new forum!
  • exactly. it's not hard to install SMF or PHPBB on a small web server, however actually maintaining/managing a forum is a bit harder.

it's easier to round up Discord moderators, but good luck finding anyone with forum moderation experience.

  • a indie game i support refuses to use a forum, only discord. i hate searching thru threads in discord when a forum would be easier.

i wish people wouldn't shun the idea of a forum just because it's a "old idea." good on the jellyfin folks for doing this.

  • What are YOU self-hosting?
  • currently using a old Dell PowerEdge r610 as my homelab.

    • 2x Xeon X5680 CPUS
    • 192GB DDR3 ECC ram
    • 5x 1.2TB 10k rpm drives in RAID 5 / boot SSD 220GB
    • Quadro P2000 for Jellyfin Transcoding

now for the things i host!

    • Jellyfin
    • HomeBridge
    • PiHole
    • 2x WireGuard VPN instances (one for each VLAN)
    • Unifi Controller
    • VaultWarden
    • 5x other VMs for game servers that i host for friends

i would move my lemmy instance to my own selfhosted setup, however i just don't want to go through with setting up NGINX proxy manager. also, my internet is a bit slower at home than what i'm getting with this hetzner VPS.
