  • GM: I removed Android Auto and replaced it with Android Automotive

  • It might be 10 years old, but it's not widely deployed until a few years ago, just like how Wayland is 15 years old but only recently starting to see widespread use.

  • Once it's balanced and wired it's impossible to be imbalanced again though. The risk is only during initial assembly and you accidentally includes an empty cells among fully charged cells.

building a battery for my house

Uh yeah that's totally different league than building a power bank though.

  • Have you tried downranking (or even blacklisting) the spammy sites on your Kagi search result? That alone is an improvement over Google.

  • When you have invested thousands (in both hours and $) into the game, you gotta show them trolls who's the boss by leaking military documents.

  • If you lost your remote, you might be able to connect a USB mouse or keyboard to control it.

  • In theory, no, but you can always block known DoH dns providers (both their ip address and their domain). It's pain in the ass though.

    List of known dns providers

  • Ads 20 years ago are just some dumb gify banners. Now your hdmi input got sniffed by your tv and identified by some fancy ai stuff in order to serve you the most profitable ads. I'm excited to see what kind of innovative ads we'll experience 20 years from now /s

    Bonus: Sony's smart tv patent

  • Judging from the trend, soon smart tvs may include a cellular modem (always on, paid by the manufacturer) or support mesh networking (passing your data through your neighbour's tv) so it can always send out telemetry data and retrieving ads. Amazon already did it via Amazon Sidewalk, which is said to cover over 90% of people in the US.

  • They started to wisen up and hard-coded dns requests to 8.8.8.8 to bypass dns ad blockers now. Heck, some apps like Netflix already do it for years now. If your router can transparently redirect all dns requests to your pi-hole, you should use that feature.

  • Search engines funded by ads have this perverse incentive to not give you the best possible results (or at least stop trying so hard to improve their results) so you search more (and thus served more ads). This may not be true for the underdogs (because they're trying to gain marketshare) but seems to be especially true for Google.

  • No unless you're terribly bad with basic algebra and discreet math. When people that interested with programming say they're bad at math, they usually mean they're bad with calculus.

  • What kind of training mission can sunk a ship? Did Ukraine join the training unannounced?

  • No touchy-feely here. Touching people from different gender is improper, while touching people from the same gender is gay (unless you're a girl). Can you guess which country is it?

Imagine my surprise when I visit a country where hugging and kissing (on the cheeks) are the norm when I was in highschool. I was like a deer in headlights. "My relative never even hugged me, yet these complete strangers greeted me with hugs?" and "this girl kissed me on my cheek when saying goodbye? Wtf I never even did any handholding with a girl before?!"

  • But what about files and documents containing PII? It's not ok to use them for AI training.

  • Where did NK get their rocket scientists? Did they attracted foreign talents with solid salary and benefits, or did they send out some of their people to study at foreign universities?

  • Wait, Dropbox can use your files to train AI? How is this acceptable? Aren't people storing their keepass vaults there?

  • Don't wanna spend money to upgrade the closet junk because that's where retired stuff from other devices ended up. Eventually an old SSD would ended up there though.
