Recently I moved my instance to a cheaper host and use the money I saved for recurring donation to Lemmy. Heck, I probably should host it on my closet for free and donate the money used for renting the VPS but my HDD is so loud it drove me crazy, it's clicking non-stop when I host a Lemmy instance there
Yes, you can appoint anyone as moderator and they'll be none the wiser unless they happen to look at their own profile page. I think the target must have comments/posts on the community first but not sure if it can be bypassed in the backend.

On Linux, there is no reason to use 3 characters extension as the max path length is 4096 characters, so I'll just use the most descriptive filename and extension. I can see the need to use the shortest extension possible on windows though with its limited 256 max path length.
Don''t even need an ec2 instance if all you do is moving the data to Amazon s3. rclone can do direct cloud-to-cloud transfer, the data won't hit the computer where the rclone running, so it should be very fast. You're going to have an eye watering s3 bill though. Once the data in an s3 bucket, you can copy them to glacier later.
After setting up mailcow, configure the mailbox to use an external relay (mailgun, Amazon SES, etc). This will cut down your potential headache since the actual mail delivery is handled by someone else. Now you only need to focus on making sure you can receive mails.
You raised a good point about rocket league, which seems to be using the ancient unreal engine 3. Epic basically updated ue3 to support directx11 but neglect updating vulkan/metal support on the old engine. But Fortnite is using unreal engine 5 though, which has excellent Linux support. Epic had a presentation bragging about how they got Fortnite running on Vulkan as "same game, not port", so the decision to not support Linux is certainly not a technical one.
