  • They know their talents well. The funniest dude is often the suicidal depressed one.

  • Its performance and driver situation might not be as great as AMD and Nvidia at the moment, but at least it works. At the very least still miles ahead of Moore Threads GPUs, which released around the same time.

  • Every 10 years, a new abstraction layer will be added to the system. I wonder how an average linux desktop would look like under the hood in 100 years.

  • Not on wayland, right? Time to pester wayland devs to add this important missing features!

  • They don't need to touch it. If you login using your company's google account, they automatically has access via their MDM console.

  • List of affected models: https://www.daihatsu.com/news/2023/20231220-4_1.pdf

It's not just affecting Daihatsu and Toyota models, but also some Subaru and Mazda models. It's mostly compact / cheap vehicles though, if you drive an SUV chance that it's not affected.

I wonder why they felt the need to cheat the safety tests though, it's not like people buying these cheap super compact vehicles for their safety.

  • Instead of forwarding ha.yourdomain.com to 192.168.178.214 (which I assume is the lan ip address for your machine), you should forward it to a hostname called homeassistant (which is the hostname for the home assistant instance inside your docker compose network).

  • What happened when you tried to open it on incognito mode / private browsing mode?

Btw, if you're using Chrome, you can type thisisunsafe to bypass hsts warning if nothing else work.

  • If you're not familiar with Ansible, I recommend to install your Lemmy instance using docker compose or Lemmy Easy Deploy.

If you still want to use Ansible, make sure to use version >= 2.11.0 . From the screenshot, chance that you might accidentally installed v2.10

  • When I'm long dead, my kid probably won't browse my steam/playstation profile and marvel at my numerous achievements. "Wow, dad is really good at this Hitler Waifu game. So many achievement. I'm proud of him" said no kid ever.

  • The ticket is ~$13, and it'll turn a 2 hours drive through a toll road (or more if there's a traffic jam, inside the toll road, which happen surprisingly often) that cost ~$7 for the toll alone into 40 minutes journey. So yeah, it's no brainer to use instead of cars if you don't need to carry too much stuff.

  • In my culture, name is parents's prayer for their children. For example, if you wish your child to be a wise person, you name them something that means wise. If you wish them to be strong, you name them something that means strong. Etc. So, naming your child something wacky like "X" would be like cursing your own child here.

Interestingly, there is also a believe that your child will be sickly if you give a name that's too heavy for your child. E.g. naming them with long names that includes too many great traits. You used to be able to identify people with aristocracy lineage because their name would be something most people considered "too heavy", but the line is blur these days.

  • It's evolutionary. Farts smell like shits. People and animal avoid shits (or anything emitting H2S) because it's wired in their brain to do so.

  • Like other people said in this thread, check your diet. Make sure to eat plenty of fiber, and reduce gas-inducing food you eat. People who constipated usually fart a lot more. Also, if you have to fart, don't do it in a room full of people. Do it outside or in the bathroom.

  • Daihatsu basically sells rebranded Toyota cars with cheaper price, but with smaller engines, lower trim level, etc. They also sells cheap commercial vehicles such as small pickups.

  • Chance that it's just marketing people talking out of their asses again, but then again, we have a lot of cheap smart devices with dubious firmwares so it might be possible on those sketchy devices.

  • Argentinian should just bear it for a bit until multinational corporations swoop in and buy various assets dirt-cheap. Imagine all the future profits! /s

  • Barley seedlings, traditionally not grown in hydroponic systems, exhibited a 50% increase in growth over 15 days when their roots were stimulated electrically using eSoil.

I didn't know barley is such a masochist plant. I wonder if it's just barley being weird, or if other plants also like being (lightly) electrocuted.

  • Ships can't pass through Panama Canal because it's closing due to climate changes. Meanwhile, ships are avoiding the Suez Canal, burning a whole lot more fuel and hastening the climate changes. Pretty neat relationship between those two canals.
