  • If your processor is a kid, they're in middle school now.

  • Samsung also manufactures their own memory and chipset. They could provide long support for those chipset if they wanted to, but that would means giving up short term profit. When smartphone sales truly stagnates and people no longer buy a new phone after 2-3 years anymore, manufacturers may consider this strategy to differentiate from their competitors.

  • Kinda like how the kind of people that buy a Rolex because it's expensive will scoff at Seiko owners. On the other hand, the kind of people that buy Rolex because they admire its mechanical movements is probably own a Seiko as well.

  • Those damn scrollwheel on logitech Gxxx mice are know to glitch like this. If it's not fixed after you cleaned it, it's time for a new mouse. Mine drove me crazy until I replaced it with an MX Master.

  • I think you're supposed to use the new notification panel now, which kinda works like those in android and ios, but it'll take a while until 3rd party apps supporting them.

  • If nextcloud is overkill, then just serve the file with Apache (with directory listing turned on) and put it behind oauth2-proxy. It's as simple as it can get.

  • Here is something else that will blow your mind: some people use body soap as shampoo.

My grandpa used to use a 3-in-1 bar of soap back then. According to the short description in the packaging, the soap can be used as body soap, washing dishes and washing clothes as well. I hated the smell so I never used it myself though.

  • 100 microwatt per battery, but the battery itself is tiny, 15x15x5 mm. Average cellphone battery is ~ 30x60x5 mm, so you can fit 8 cell there. Is it enough to power a phone?

  • Broadcom can't afford to get distracted with servicing those small businesses after laying off thousands of vmware employees. They'll have to make sure the handful of remaining vmware employees focus on milking their biggest customers instead.

  • Apparently it can boosts engagement?

At the Times, which got 60 percent of its June visitors from mobile, the “show full article button” has resulted in “moderate increase” in the time readers spend, according to Paul Werdel, senior product manager on mobile.

Quartz, which also introduced its own “read full story” button alongside its design refresh in June, has used the button to boost the performance of its mobile Engage ads, which appear directly below the button. The Huffington Post uses a similar approach, presenting readers with a 300 x 250 banner ad below its own “read more” button. Huffington Post VP of Engineering Sam Napolitano said that preliminary data on the feature has been “very positive” since its addition.

  • In my case, if the game framerate > monitor framerate, no issue with proton under xwayland. But if the game framerate < monitor framerate, it'll flicker or stutter heavily.

New vegas is smooth, while rdr2 would flicker and stutter.

  • You're right, it's seem to be xwayland issue. All games games that run on proton is unplayable due to flickers, but native linux vulkan games works smoothly. I somehow thought proton already supports wayland but turns out it's still using xwayland. I'm pretty sure it's not this bad on 535.

  • Helping people to switch to Linux, then trolling them to run rm -rf /* is the essence of most Linux communities.

  • Meanwhile, after updating my nvidia driver to 545.x, I can no longer play games on Wayland due to heavy flickering. Ah well, at least I can still switch to X11 for gaming. But Nvidia really drag their asses when it comes to Wayland (or linux gaming in general) support.

  • SingleFile extension can save a web page into a single html file where all media are neatly inlined inside the file. You'll have to do this manually on each page though, so it's not ideal for saving the whole website.

If you're comfortable running commands in terminal, you can use SingleFile CLI to crawl the whole website, e.g.: single-file https://www.wikipedia.org --crawl-links=true --crawl-inner-links-only=true --crawl-max-depth=1 --crawl-rewrite-rule="^(.*)\\?.*$ $1"

  • This is very useful in places like big city where there are gazillion of devices fighting for airtime. Wifi 7 devices can dynamically switch channel, or even use multiple channels at once which should help a lot in congested environment.

  • Obviously the best CEO of all time was VOC's CEO. Other CEOs are pale in comparison and should learn from his revolutionary leadership such as raising private army, monopolizing spice trades, divide-and-conquering local kingdoms, and burning local crops to control commodities price /s
