  • Probably just a permission issue. The doc seems to recommend giving relaxed permission to the temp folder volume:

    sudo chmod 777 /your/linguacafe/temp/folder -R

  • Someone is more likely to get cut from handling those open blades in the trash than a trained construction worker demolishing the wall.

  • One blade a day?!! Are you a billionaire or something? The acceptable signal to replace the razor is when the pain from the dull blade pulling your hairs makes your eye watery, and then you try to man up for a couple more shaves before accepting defeat and put in a fresh blade.

  • Meanwhile, nvidia 545 for linux brings a few more bugs...

  • The fluoride concentration in tap water is like 0.7mg/l. Toxic dose is 60 mg/kg, but 0.2 mg/kg is enough to cause some gastrointestinal discomfort. If I chug 16 liters of tap waters after I brushed my teeth I'll have some gastrointestinal discomfort from fluoride but I'll probably die from water poisoning first.

  • But NASA's Deep Space Network, which sends commands and receives data from spacecraft across the solar system, was receiving telemetry from SLIM or one of the tiny rovers -- or both -- an hour after landing.

At the post-landing news conference, JAXA officials confirmed flight controllers were receiving telemetry from both SLIM and LEV-1, which was designed to beam data directly back to Earth. LEV-2 relays data back through SLIM.

"We do consider LEV-1 and LEV-2 to have been successfully separated, and we are making an effort to acquire data at this point in time," said Kuninaka.

It sucks but at least they're able to deploy both mini rovers, so maybe the mission is mostly successful? No idea what those mini rovers are capable of though, their project website seems to be available only in japanese: https://www.isas.jaxa.jp/home/slim/SLIM/index.html

They even have a VR video, an AR 3d model, and a web game on their website: https://www.isas.jaxa.jp/home/slim/SLIM/gallery/index.html

  • Surely this is not related to recent major layoff in Google Assistant division, right?

  • An aftermarket head unit usually has an external microphone jack in the wiring harness where you can plug an extra microphone and place it somewhere near the driver (e.g. behind the steering wheel). Just buy a small microphone to upgrade the recording quality.

  • Each of my server got ssh login attempt at ~1 request / second. If you have 12 servers, that's already 1 million "hacking attempt" per day.

  • Why stop at Ubuntu if you can try a new distro each month?

  • Glad seeing more and more investment in foundational libraries. I guess the world is starting to learn its lesson now.

  • Using salt water would destroy the freshwater ecosystem connected to the canal and contaminate ground water and irrigation system with saltwater which will wreak havoc to farming and freshwater supply for people that live in the area. Think about how hard it is to farm in the beach area where there is no fresh water. Most crops cannot tolerate high salt level. The canal is going through a highland so all those salt water will absolutely flow downstream to rivers and seeping into ground water. Imagine if an important water reservoir in your area suddenly turn into salt water reservoir. The whole region would basically be fucked to accommodate global trade.

  • There is also Kagi, a paid search engine. They recently gained some controversy due to "partnering" with Brave, but quickly backtrack on the "partner" announcement.

  • Feels like we're back to 2007 again when spoofing firefox user agent to IE would fix websites not working properly, only now we spoof it to chrome instead.

  • AI safety? Yes, it's completely safe to use AI in military application now. /s

  • Can't lose paying customers if they have nowhere to go. Youtube basically own the western audience and they simply can't switch to youtube competitors because there isn't any left. At least japan still has niconico and china has a lot since youtube doesn't operate there.

  • Youtube can show ads and offers subscription without being this shitty though. Just look on how popular region-specific video services like niconico (japan) or bilibili (china) operate. They also have ads and subscription, but nowhere as crazy as google adding multiple video ads upon ads and pick a fight with ad blocker users (which used to be a minority when google haven't aggressively pushed more and more ads. the current popularity of adblockers today is google's own doing). This is only possible because google has killed off competitors in western market and now it's time for cashing out.

  • If your game run terribly on Wayland, try running in on X11, and vice-versa.
