  • Nah i'm with you on that one 100% as well. As someone that's been in the crypto space for years now. (More than I would like to admit). Crypto Twitter for example is a cesspit. I find myself enjoying Mirage more so now due to the fact it's not too dominated with Crypto content. Far from it at this stage. Plus there's no algo, it's all opt in/opt out self moderation, which suits me also.

But I hear you on the crypto culture 100%.

  • Interesting. My fault for not checking to be sure. Assumed from what I read I didn't need to give it.

Have been trying Mirage also and it asked for nothing when signing up which to me is great. Always try to be privacy focussed with these things is all.

  • It's built on a blockchain but that's as far as the crypto element goes. no token or anything like that. No base knowledge of crypto needed. The blockchain allows you to remain anon when signing up.

  • Was just confused af when I saw someone else posting that they didn't have to give theirs.

Mirage gave me a seed phrase and that was it, which I liked. Privacy first ideally is always my approach.

    Appreciate the reply my bro

  • All good. Was a little worried when they asked for my email to sign up. Seen someone else saying they werent asked but I was. On Mirage for example I wasn't asked for anything so it threw me a little but. new here so still a bit clueless

  • Reddit @lemmy.world

Recently Banned On Reddit - New Here

  • I only noticed this shit recently man after the Israel/Twitter stuff. I always run a link through claude now to clean it first before posting anywhere. Sounds paranoid but fuck it makes me feel much more comfortable about it.

Does Lemmy track? I'm new here

  • Brother holy fuck lol if i could high 5 you rn I would. Exact same for me. I lost my Twitter account back in the Covid days and have seen the way it's went with Elon regarding the Israel issue. Unbelievably hard to bite my tongue on there but I don't want to lost my twitter account after getting it back.

Reddit it was gone in a blink. Mirage to its credit, they market themselves as an absolute free speech platform so i've found my takes being received a lot better on there on the israel issue. Reassuring af that I can finally vent somewhere online without fear of any blowback, if that makes sense

  • Based. I care because personally I just got banned and came here to see what others are saying lol

Just discovered Lemmy. Have been playing around a lot with Mirage in recent weeks and been enjoying it on there too but thought why not have a look here also to see!

*was disappointed that I had to give my personal email to sign up here, didnt have to do that with Mirage

  • Mirage feels to me like the very OG Reddit. Even from a UI standpoint. They’ve built their own blockchain. So when I signed up there, I was given my own seed phrase to access the account vs having to give any of my own personal credentials. Seems a lot more privacy-focused. Didn't ask me for my personal email, nothing at all as a matter of fact. Definitely feel a lot more comfortable that way.

Also the moderation there is more opt in/opt out than Reddit for example. No issues with mods like those clowns over on Reddit. Just wasn't too pleased to see here I had to give my email to get on.

Check out mirage.talk and let me know your thoughts. 5RBG-CEW5 code should get you in!

What were reddit chasing you off for out of curiosity?

  • Never heard of Voyager, i'll check it out.

Was banned on Reddit a few weeks ago and have been trying out Mirage since that but thought i'd give it a go on here also. Can't lie though I don't like the fact I had to hand over my email to get on here. Almost stopped me from going ahead with it. Mirage asked for nada. Prefer it that way. But still keen to see what it's like here too!
