  • Come on now! Satel is the manufacturer! AFAIK. And as I said in another comment - this shit is simple as f**k!

Don’t blame alarm systems manufacturer for poor/predatory service of your local security company.

  • And it did not occur to you to disconnect the siren? :D

I don’t know what country you are from and what you use but you are extremely overestimating the level of complexity of these "security devices".

Everything is clearly described in installation and service manuals. Everything is available from the manufacturer. You can install these systems DIY if you’d like. Disconnection of a sensor is a security event which triggers alarm no matter if it was armed or not. How to handle this is described in manual. The shitty support that couldn’t handle it speaks volumes about their competence.

The service codes which should be unique to each client and installation are reused on every system that given contractor installs. After a brief gig my brother had as a technician, he knew service codes for all banks and jeweleries in the radius of 150km… That disarms the alarm at wish and can modify settings :)

And you are worried that you might compromise the security by DIYing it? :)

  • hardened his stance on immigration, calling for Ukrainian refugees’ benefits to be cut.

Your perception of this statement is out of context. The context is, on two examples

    1. Guaranteed minimal pension for foreigners require them to work legally in Poland for only one month. This is exploited by Ukrainians and at the same time Polish nationals have much stricter requirements, we feel discriminated in our own country.
    2. Up to June 2025 the social program 500+ (now 800+) which is paid as support in raising a child, for each child, put no limits on eligibility for foreigners. Again exploited by Ukrainian families that quickly returned to their homeland.

Before the invasion there was also governmental support in form of partial mortgage repayment for people buying their first flat which again was exploited by Ukrainians buying their first flat… in Poland.

Our government has a track record of intentional fuckups in this regard, this is reflected in public mood towards social support for Ukrainians. This is not to stop helping Ukrainian refugees, this is manipulation. It is to stop treating Poles in their own country worse than foreigners.

  • This is what’s happening. Current president vetoes all changes and directs them to Constitutional Court held by judges assigned (unlawfully) by the current opposition party that then rules it is unconstitutional. Game over. In addition to all the pardons recently issued, nothing will change unless we elect a new president not connected to former ruling party (PiS) in any way.

So, other commenters who are very furious and obviously not from Poland should now reevaluate their reasons to be mad.

And the article might be an attempt to spin the narration away from currently evolving scandal concerning independent presidential candidate backed by the former ruling party (PiS, party of current president). Please be aware that we have elections very soon…

  • Not quite? Ok so according to the article it is supposed to challenge the status of AUTOSAR. This is something used exclusively in automotive ECUs which most of the time use the operating system shipped with AUTOSAR compliant vendor. This OS is much much simpler than Linux is with totally different design goals and requirements. Think bare-bones no MMU operating system. It would be closer to FreeRTOS than Linux.

However the story does not end here. Together with an operating system the vendor delivers all tooling for development, which includes such gimmicks like visualization of task scheduling in comparison to resource usage. You can inspect worst case scenarios without even running the compiled software and make sure that hard real-time requirements are always met.

Now, this space is dominated by one company from Germany named Vector… You see where this goes.

Source: worked with AUTOSAR many years ago. I hated it because the tooling is so advanced it is mostly point and click programming

  • Out of curiosity: do you have some notification on Bazzite that automatic update was downloaded and reboot is required? Or is this totally stealth? And should it all be automatic or ‘ujust update’?

  • If you want wireless gaming, forget about Bluetooth, period. You need low latency connection which will not be Bluetooth based and requires separate USB dongle. My Logitech g535s are even recognizable by Android phones.

Don’t buy them for music, they are correct but.. I do not recommend them for music as they don’t match my taste, but they are still usable. You will be disappointed.

Perfect for meetings, Ok for gaming. Reasonable price (often available well under MSRP). Ok for mixed usage, not good for music :)

  • Based on Fedora Kinoite and immutable OS images. OpenSUSE has something similar called MicroOS, but server focused.

This is a frontline of next gen Linux desktops that will revolutionize the way we maintain them. I am a Debian veteran of over 12 years and now I use Aurora at home. This is the way.

  • One of President Donald Trump’s top officials has warned European allies hesitant about working with Elon Musk’s satellite Internet company that they needed to choose between US and Chinese technology.

Oh they can go fuck themselves and choose between Chinese Huawei and Korean Samsung for their terrestrial cellular networks, thank you very much. Ericsson and Nokia are European and we have technology required for low orbit direct to mobile cell networks.

Want to piss them off even more? Remind them that they have sold Alcatel Lucent and Bell Labs to Nokia.
