  • It already started happening before LLM AI. Have you heard the joke that we were teaching our parents how to use printers and PCs with mouse and keyboard and now we have to do the same with our children? It’s really not a joke. We are the last generation that have seen it all evolving before our eyes, we know the fundamentals of each layer of abstraction the current technology is built upon. It was natural process for us to learn all of this and now suddenly we expect "fresh people" to grasp 50 years or so of progress in 5 or so years?

    Interesting times ahead of us.

  • Yes I agree. I just wanted to point out that articles like linked should not be immediately interpreted as "oh noo recession". They move labor wherever it is cheaper, Eastern Europe, Ukraine, India, or China in case of manufacturing, that’s all.

    Privileges of being a megacorp?

  • Ooh, that’s interesting. But I assume there is nothing stopping me from using both quux AND alternative routes to nodes (via meshtastic for instance) at the same time? I don’t have to go fully one way or another?

  • Additionally, Spotify highest quality, while not perfect for nitpickers, is actually totally fine and good enough for 99% of audio equipment used by consumers. If you play your FLACs through wireless headphones… oh boy you have some learning to do.

  • I said this in my other comment but in indirect way - I would love for some French lemmings to chime in and describe how they portray their president. Because what I see from the perspective of an outsider (but eu citizen) - he looks like a great leader with unmatched opportunity to became one due to his country strength and position.

  • I was a Debian guy for years now. Running on all my servers and virtual machines, but never got to be satisfied with it enough to “format Windows” out of my main computer. Until one day I discovered Aurora and relatives. That’s it, that’s the endgame for me. Literally everything works out of the box including support for legacy Nvidia cards, g-sync, scaling etc. and I can fully understand and like their design decisions (hell, with brew it will be just like having a Mac). I’m done with Windows before this year ends.

  • And Sailfish OS by history of its development is a direct descendant of the Nokia N9 legacy! They say directly on the Jolla about page that they continue what Nokia left, and I’ve heard some of their developers were OG Nokia Meego devs.

Go open the link posted by @sunshine , it’s all there!

  • Your last two paragraphs summarized it all perfectly: majority of us had become sheeple who are happy to give up their rights and free will to live a comfortable life and let someone else decide for them. The only resistance they show is by posting on social media - getting up and actually doing something for a better good is too difficult. Including doing their own goddamn coffee! Even buying an automatic coffee machine is paying for itself at this rate in less than half a year! And the same majority decides about our future in elections!

  • Website idea. Join together people who, for a small fee, are willing to ship parcels full of treats to the other side of the globe with people craving such treats. Example: I know guys in Japan who would kill for a box of Paluszki made by Lajkonik. Here we have Canadians craving Knoppers. Etc.

  • Local military superiority against eastern thread? First nuclear reactor? Creating high speed railway connections east-west and south-north supported by a huge central airport? One can only hope some of these will become true :)
