Yeah, it's unmaintained because one guy, tiangolo, is the only maintainer for both of those projects, and he doesn't let anyone else approve PRs and so on. I think Litestar has a much better organisation structure.
I don't think surveillance is the issue here (what would they spy on?), more so getting shut down. Which is also virtually impossible due to federation.
Lemvotes gets data from my instance, so if I hadn't made the opt-out option, this community vote would still be run, with the difference that there would be the option of defederating me instead of opting out.
