Any plans to integrate the functionality of Lemmyverse.net or browse.feddit.de into Lemmy itself?
  • This is a very good idea and will greatly improve the onboarding experience

  • Lemmy is so good right now because there are no kids here
  • Enjoy while it lasts, Eventually everything turns to shit

  • Fediverse has restored my subscribed communities after the instance was offline for 1 week and the database was reset.
  • I am glad that the servers did not forget me and kept trying to reach my instance. 😀 Good job Fediverse

  • Fediverse has restored my subscribed communities after the instance was offline for 1 week and the database was reset.

Last week I nuked my personal lemmy instance while trying to upgrade to 0.18.0. Due to some technical issues, I decided to keep the server offline while waiting for the new releases. During this process I deleted the database and all config files while trying to debug. Finally, after 1 week, I decided to try the latest release candidate and the instance is back up. I thought I would have to manually re-subscribe to all my communities as I saw an empty list of subscribed communities, but over the next few hours something amazing happened. One by one all my previously subscribed communities appeared on the Communities->All tab 😱 🤯. All I had to do was click subscribe. I guess this would not have happened if I had used a different username or domain name for my instance.

TLDR: Fediverse/lemmy restored my subscribed communities after the instance was offline for 1 week and the database was reset.

  • Solution: I was using Nginx Proxy Manager and cache assets was turned on. Today I read the release notes about lemmy 18.0 and decided to turn of caching and voila...

TLDR: Turn off caching at the reverse proxy.

Thumbnails not working on my instance [SOLVED]

I see I am not alone in this issue. I see many profiles with broken avatar images. Anyone know how to fix it. BTW I am using cloud-flare and I see some weird stuff happening with the image request. If anyone has fixed this please share.
