  • Awesome! Make a post / comment there and I can make you a mod! Doesn't need to be anything fancy if you don't have an idea, can be a "word of the day" type of a post :)

  • Honestly I don't know. My phone's been on silent/vibration for a few years now.

  • Don't get me wrong, I appreciate you throwing out ideas as I am quite lost with french :) no need to become a detective!

I guess we could redirect to !languagelearning@sopuli.xyz community unless you'd like to personally take up the community under moderation (or we can do both, that you take it over and redirect until there's a demand for learning community for french specifically).

    What do you think?

  • Ohh missed that! Am I completely wrong thinking that forumlibre is just a french speaking community for everything? Wondering how they would like us redirecting to them.

I mean we do have !languagelearning@sopuli.xyz that also has french learners. This community was meant as a catch-all language learning community with more activity for languages that don't necessarily have an active community yet on lemmy. We can redirect there too if we don't have a dedicated and active space yet!

Unlike the reddit equivalent !languagelearning@sopuli.xyz also accepts language specific questions and talk.

  • Yeah the whole privacy community consolidation topic seems prettty tough.

I think in the headline of redirect post we can mention programming.dev since it's picking up momentum, but we'll add all the active communities in post body so people can just follow them all if they want and want to keep up with all of the posts for now (i do that currently).

Thanks for your efforts with this blaze.

  • I also see this as a good idea, but I checked out these communities and their mods seem to be also somewhat inactive on lemmy and there isn't any more activity than on the sopuli one. While lemmy.world and SJW are really well administered instances that will deal with any issues quickly, I'd like to consider some options first maybe?

I would have never found the first one with the community name, so I'd like to ask if you happen to know any other communities like that on lemmy?

  • Awesome! I'll make you a mod there and then you'll see some options such as "only moderators are allowed to post", which is kind of "locking the community (you don't have to do this if you don't want to).

You can almost just copy-paste the post on !arab@sopuli.xyz, post it in your community, and make it a "sticky" (I believe in lemmy-web-ui it's called "feature post in community").

You are free to do as you will though. It can be open for e.g. finnish c++ discussion too and still have the stickied post to redirect general discussion to the active programming dev community.

Edit: appointed you as a mod now

  • Good idea!

You could take over the community if you want, make a redirect post similar to the ones we have made in now-locked communities towards the programming.dev one, and lock the community for time being. You can unlock it anytime if there's a need or you have an idea for the community.

    Would that sound good?

  • No need to have constant flow of content, as long as you guys have a community to go to and like to post to, it's all good!

Glad to hear and woah, that sounds pretty cool, hope you had a good time! Sounds like the moderation is active enough :)

I doubt your community will ever attract a lot of bad actors and if something pops up we know that there are other eyes on the community and we can help. If you are not available it's not the end of the world :) it's the communities that have no eyes and the mod has clearly left fediverse that we worry about. Anyone can just post anything there.

    Edit: words

  • Almost missed your post! Good thing I decided to check whether there's been any activity in the lua community.

Thanks for stepping up, I'll appoint you as a mod.

  • Ah you are right, and the homebrewing one has nice original content too!

Think we can delete the mead one since it's completely empty and quite niche.

Thanks for brining this to our attention.

  • No worries, small posts are also what make up a community! Thanks for pitching in, you have been appointed a mod in that community few seconds ago.

edit: meant to say big posts are awesome, but small posts are also nice!

  • Ah sweet, that'd be nice. Hope you are okay and hope you don't mind a new mod on anarchychess.

Would appreciate if you can look for mods on the comm itself as this post was mostly triggered by increase in reported activity.

  • We'd be fine with redirect, but I'll wait until the discussion in the linked post comes to somekind of conclusion. It seems the fxomt might lock privacy@dbzero and we would preferably not redirect to a locked community :)

(we will probably redirect to more than one community because I personally follow a few and feel like if you only subscribe to one you'll miss out). The redirect is mostly for new users afterall!

Edit: seems like the discussion didn't end with locking that community on dbzer0, so we will probably mention it as well in the redirect post on sopuli.

  • This one was easy and clear, thanks! We added a sticky post to the community for redirecting users.

  • Ach, ich_iel ist undicht

  • Rss feed is a good idea, I should try that out. Thanks for the tip!

I did too check out daily, but lately admin reports have been taking quite a lot of time (hence the look for mods). Threadiverse is growing and it's been a lot more often "check reports" during the day than before. So my other accounts have been neglected for awhile :(

But yeah also that: having one account is just more cozy!

  • Ne en unu tago elkreskis Kartago, bonan ŝancon!... Or something, that's the best I could do with wikipedia at hand :)

Make a post in the two communities and I'll add you as a mod!

  • Yeah I also planning to get rid of my alts since I never remember to check their notifications... You can use your lemmings account to moderate, no problem!
