Trump threatens 35% tariffs on Canada starting Aug. 1
  • He should be making weekly statements to Canadians,

    Saying what exactly?

"We are still attempting to negotiate with the Trump administration, but with the changing situation the negotiations are at a delicate point and I cannot risk divulging any further details that might further complicate already challenging discussions".

  • Trump threatens 35% tariffs on Canada starting Aug. 1
  • doing everything in secret, no updates.

Do you think it would be beneficial for him to put out a press release saying what aces he has up his sleeve, what the plan is to counter Trump's next move, or any other parts of the negotiations?

Do you think the Americans won't love to learn those things?

  • holding Canada's cards close and not telling his bluffs.

That's what the "just tell us what you're doing in the negotiations" crowd seems to miss.

It would be colossally stupid to put out a press release that tells the other players what cards you're holding, and what your planned strategy is.

But when it's a toddler with a (nuclear) gun, you do have to tread very carefully and choose your battles wisely.

I certainly don't envy him this task.

  • The Prime Reasons to Avoid Amazon
  • good luck doing anything online and avoiding AWS.

Don't let perfect stand in the way of good.

It's not possible in most cases to even know if a given online resource is using AWS behind the scenes, so it's not something you can really control.

On the other hand, if you happen to be a web developer, that is a different story, but for normal users it's not something you can do much about.

  • Rocky Mountain employers in Alberta see major boost in temporary foreign worker approvals

The trend isn't confined to the Bow Valley or even to Alberta. The federal government has temporarily eased limits on how many temporary foreign workers a business can hire in low-wage positions, and employers across Canada have increasingly made use of the program.
