  • Thank you for making this post. I saw it happen and found it very concerning. I didn't feel capable to address it myself so I am very glad someone else has raised the issue. I would like to hope that the vast majority (should be everyone but evidently not with what's happened) of our instance will be in agreeance that transphobia is absolutely not something we want to be associated with here. @tom@feddit.uk Please deal with this.

  • I’m truly sorry you’ve had this experience here. I saw your post and I saw how quickly it got locked. I also saw how you handled the situation in the other thread where they debated with you back and forth. I won’t pretend to be hugely knowledgable regarding the issues that the trans community face and that is on me, I need to educate myself. I just want to add that I think Tom may be on holiday at present and it might be that he isn’t sure how to respond to you. However, that’s not an excuse and I do think that the community should have been locked down at the very least. It’s unfortunate timing that an instance was created, it’s grown extremely quickly in numbers, and the lead admin is not able to give full attention to pressing issues like this. I hope a resolution can be reached soon.

  • Same here, it gets unbearable - I sympathise with you. We have roof windows and last summer during the heatwave I think we touched 36°c inside. I'm dreading what might be to come this year. On the flip side in winter it was 8°c at times...Swings and roundabouts, right?

    Experiences with Inositol?

I thought I would post here to ask if anyone has tried inositol powder or tablets to help with PCOS related symptoms?

1 teaspoon of myo-inositol powder - dissolved in water - taken each morning seems to have completely obliterated my intense cravings / constant want to eat. It appeared to take effect the very same day that I started it. Initially I had some stomach upset, usually within 15 minutes of drinking it on an empty stomach. A week later this has settled down. I drink it slowly and have a breakfast such as porridge soon after. The real test will come after I next ovulate - whenever that is. If I still don’t experience any cravings then, I will be truly amazed.

I have also experienced a slight increase in headaches but this could also be due to dehydration. My biggest concern at the moment is hair shedding. I do lose a fair amount of hair but I feel like it may have increased. I can’t be sure if this is linked to the inositol or not but for now I will continue with 1 teaspoon daily and see how it goes.

    Monday morning musings
  • Morning everyone. It has indeed rained! Had a good heavy shower yesterday evening. Today is a day of housework and food shopping now that it’s a bit cooler. Starting the week in a relatively positive mood - hopefully that continues!

  • Tablet organisers?
  • I use a small zip pouch like a mini emergency stash. It’s small enough to chuck in my bag and I keep strips or singles that I’ve cut off of strips that are too big to fit in the pouch. Something like this :) Or maybe some kind of small plastic / metal container would give them a bit more protection but still keep them all together within your bag.

  • 📷 A few pictures from a stretch of the Oxford Canal

I went for a little walk on a stretch of the Oxford Canal in the Cherwell District area today, so I thought I would share a few pictures that I took. It was very peaceful. It makes my day when friendly boaters say hello when passing by.

I don't have a fancy camera or anything but I still like taking some pictures while I'm out. :)

    Reminder it's Father's day tomorrow!
  • Yes! To be fair he was going to come down for a visit (we’re 100 miles apart) but he wants to go to the track and watch motorbike racing instead. I’m just happy he’ll be doing what he enjoys. :)

  • [IMPORTANT] We need to apply the 'Undetermined' language option

UPDATE: Tom has now added the Undetermined language option to our instance. To make sure you can see the majority of Lemmy content from within your feddit.uk account, do the following:

Click your profile name - click settings - scroll down to the Languages box (not interface language) - hold down Ctrl (cmd on Mac) and select both English and Undetermined. On mobile browser: Tap the Languages box and make sure both are selected - scroll down and click save

You can also select any other languages which are beneficial to you.

If you don't see everything listed in the box, try refreshing the page.

    Original Post

When viewing profile settings, you will see a box which says: >Warning: If you deselect Undetermined, you will not see most content.

On feddit.uk we currently have no selectable language option other than English. This means that (sometimes?) we will not see a lot of posts / comments on other instances / communities where the OP did not specifically select English before posting

See also: This Lemmy documentation under 'Setting up your profile' >• Languages: Select the languages that you speak to see only content in these languages. This is a new feature and many posts don't specify a language yet, so be sure to select "Undetermined" to see them.

Ideally, we need the ability to select English (or whatever language) AND undetermined - you can select multiple, as long as they are available.

When I view X community@instance from my lemmy.world account (with Undetermined language selected in profile settings), I can see all posts and comments. When I view the same community@instance from my feddit.uk account, there are missing posts and often 0 comments on everything. This needs addressing if possible!

My spider plant gave me flowers this year!

I think there's probably been about 10 flowers in total. It's a shame they don't stay for longer but it's been lovely to see them!
