  • I'm pretty sure the book doesn't say the boys fucked each other explicitly, nor is it in the subtext. It is very detailed about them fucking the girl. (From what I remember. it's been a while)

  • Right? They could have just cut their hands and smushed the blood together to nail the "we have an unbreakable bond" vibe. The sex thing, especially when it's like 7 boys fucking one girl, is just bad.

  • The "use assets as collateral to get a loan, and loans aren't taxed as income" thing needs to be patched out. There are probably many other exploits but that one seems like an easier fix.

  • Thank you for this response. This was a surprisingly good analysis for a random post on the Internet.

I admit I myself have historical only really focused on the moral horror of it, and found myself wondering if I'd stay or leave the city if I found myself there. It easily maps onto real life- much of the comfort we enjoy is built on lightly hidden horrors like slave labor and other exploitation.

This second facet is also worth thinking about, though I don't think it renders the other one moot.

  • Management are some combination of malicious and stupid.

The boss at my old job is pushing to make people go in. It's like a 2 hour commute for half the team. He doesn't care. He wants people working on the weekend, too

He's an Iranian immigrant that loves musk. No one should be abducted and sent to a death camp but if they got him it would feel almost karmic.

  • I do feel like sometimes players have a sort of laid back, "we should just win without too much trouble" attitude. Sometimes this manifests as "we take a long rest after every fight". And that's a fine way to play, so long as everyone's on board.

It can be kind of bad when half the group is kick-in-the-door-lol and the DM is expecting more tactical depth.

I think because D&D is many people's first RPG, you'll find a lot of bad habits there as new players rediscover them.

  • I've read that if you want to kill someone, the best way to do it is to hit them with your car. The authorities will just be like "Oh, well, he was walking and you hit him what a terrible accident. Well, couldn't be helped."

Maybe Kraft has a murder fetish. Probably he's just a scumbag, though.

  • A couple months ago I ran into a guy collecting signatures for Cuomo by Atlantic center (a major transit hub in Brooklyn). I was just like "why?? Why are you doing this??" But sadly I was in a hurry and didn't have time to engage with him very long

  • I had a job that paid stupid well. I'd give some money to almost anyone who asked on the street. They need it. I have plenty. I'm not going to notice the $1 or $5 or even $20 that I gave away. I make more than that in interest every day.

Rarely, I'll talk with them a little. Ask their name or their story. There's a regular around me that seems delighted that I remember his name.

Sometimes someone will seem unsafe, but most people are alright. It helps that I'm a bearded man, so certain classes of danger and harassment are rarely pointed at me.

I got laid off in February. I still give to people who ask, but I carry less cash so sometimes I don't have anything to give.

When I'd be out with coworkers, before we all got laid off, none of them would give anything to people asking. I know they made as much or more than I did. I don't judge people for not giving cash out when they're in debt or struggling to pay rent, but I do judge my coworker for like wearing a high five figure watch and never helping the poor.
