First you talk. Then you vote. Then you use the legal system. And if things are still broken, you use violence.

I'm in the US so I can't speak for the UK specifically, but it does feel like the rise of fascism and consolidation of power into fewer and fewer people is a real problem that won't be fixed by asking nicely.

  • The website still makes it look like there's a subscription and "cartel coins" to buy. I tried to free sometime in the past 10 years and the free mode felt limited. I think you can't sprint , or something insulting like that?

  • Oh, I see the point you're making.

I assumed that the information was there to be found, and a regular search would have returned it. Thus it would not have taken hours.

Personally I don't really trust the LLMs to synthesize disparate sources.

  • Client side power usage for conventional Internet search is about the same as chatgpt. I'm not sure why you're talking about laptop power usage.

Conventional search is less likely to lie, though.

  • I found it harder than others in the genre. The parry timing never clicked for me. Sekiro became intuitive. Lies of P just gave me a headache.

Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring are probably the easiest if you use all the tools available to you.

  • I was just talking about this earlier. The startup I worked for a bunch of years ago hired a lot of people to do customer support and some manual tasks. Most of that is likely automated away now by AI. Well, most of the people hired then went on to successful careers. Lots of directors and managers in that cohort now. They got their start at an entry level job, made connections, learned a lot of stuff. But that kind of job is rarer now.

Capitalism is like a cancer. It grows and grows and grows and kills the host. It knows nothing else.

  • I walk past a couple bars a lot and they seem to have the same amount of people. All the outside tables had folks last night.

I'm not going to bars because I'm unemployed. Like I say, if capital wants me to spend money they can give me some, first.

  • Same.

I read that book right after taking like English 400: Theory and Criticism, so I was like "yeah it has footnotes but doesn't every book have footnotes?" Then I recommended it to a friend who hadn't read a book more complex than harry potter in 20 years, and her brain like caught fire.
