My biggest issue is I just dont like any of the characters and I wouldn't want to be on that ship. That to me is the biggest flaw of Discovery.

Every other Star Trek I can imagine it being so cool to get to be there. Discovery would be awful. Being around that crew sounds awful and exhausting.

I tried watching it and got to what I was told was a peak episode in S1E7 and it was still awful and seemed like it would be awful. No charm. I compare it to other episodes in sci fi like it and it has nearly 0 fun and the fun it had was dark and creepy.

They didn't bother maintaining water quality for the 35 years they knew it was a problem. Then when a company they were willing to sue got involved in the water cycle they decided it was worth testing.

I did some Linux gaming during COVID and recently swapped my HTPC to Linux (Bazzite/Deck) for a console style setup in the living room. Massively improved now over my previous experience.

The game I was playing heavily this last weekend (Wildmender) absolutely runs better in Proton on Linux than it did on Windows. Less crashes, less stutters, faster load time. I assume it is due to preRendered shaders? Honestly not really sure but it is nice.

Going to do some Enshrouded on it next which is a game absolutely not at all optimized for Linux, so far it seems to be working fine but I've not gotten to that late game CPU intensity of loading areas heavily modified.

If they have an expedition then play that mode. I really do not understand why they do not keep an Expedition or two running at all times. They add exactly the amount of depth folks find missing and normally I can run one and then I still play and have fun for another 20 hours before the game gets repetitive and I quit for a bit again.

Movie Star Trek is different from TV Star Trek. Except for Insurrection which is just a 2 part episode in a movie trench coat. And probably Section 31 but I don't plan to watch that and find out.

They both take effort. People act like being nice is free but forget how intensely challenging it is for some neurodivergent people to try to comprehend people's feelings in a situation. Add to that the layers of language barrier and insanely diverse social structures and attitudes of something as massive as the Linux Kernel.

It's not his role to be nice, it his role to be right. If your technical leader is more concerned with keeping people happy than keeping the technology good you are going to end up screwed.

Year of the Linux desktop pushed out a year due to Linux infighting and intolerable advocates for the 33rd year. Clearly the fault of the other distros as I use Arch.

An LLM cannot generate random numbers. It has to pull from a list of numbers its model was built to include.

Switch 2 to me is something I'm okay with from the perspective of, I think these consoles need to update more often. Nintendo didn't have anything revolutionary to add this time around, but wanted to update the Switch because it had been 8 years. It's nearly 100% backwards compatible. This is a better choice than the WiiU which basically was Wii without the fun.

I'm curious what Sony and Microsoft do because there isn't any new improved tech for those devices that would really drive a better experience for people. Microsoft seems to be toying with the Xbox isn't a single device it's an experience concept. Sony made the Pro and no one cared.

mammal milk has specific ingredients that are meant to specifically feed infants of that animal. So its often high in fat and has specific things that are meant to be digested by that animal. Breast milk from a human has special ingredients that help digest the high lactose content and those ingredients are not in other milks.

Now Oats have been designed over years to be digested by humans and other animals. They propagate by being consumed and then travel to other areas post consumption. The nutrition in oats and other vegetables is mostly there specifically to drive animals like us to eat them so that we propagate them.

AI won't fail. It already is past the point where failing or being a fad was an option. Even if we wanted to go backwards, the steps that were taken to get us to where we are with AI have burned the bridges. We won't get 2014 quality search engines back. We can't unshitify the internet.
