I'd agree about the infantry though. Ukraine is very well versed in WW1 Infantry tactics of a man for a meter.

Sanctions are only meant to hurt people, not leaders. In fact, they politically weaken poorer people who end up trying to stay alive over trying to overthrow the government.

4.5 Million but yeah, glad that the USA and the UK got sanctioned after leading such a genocidal war. This restores my faith in the rules based order.

1. Ideology : Ukraine has upped their propaganda to extreme levels since 2014. There's rabid nationalism and them basing their entire cultural identity on being anti-Russian.
2. Ban on men from leaving the country, this also makes their families stay in Ukraine. These people are conscripted randomly.
3. Fear is also factor. Nazi paramilitaries in Ukraine have significant political power and going against them could lead to drastic consequences. These groups have already done pogroms against certain groups and run a reign of terror even Zelensky was not fond of when he initially became president.
4. Also the entirety of western and ukrainian press pretending that Ukraine is winning overwhelmingly with zero causalities probably plays a part.
