  • If you enjoy novels written by historians, try Essex Dogs by Dan Jones. I just finished it last week and absolutely loved it. I'm itching for the sequel to come out, it's a long wait until October for me now.

  • I had just finished Essex Dogs the other day, and was about to start Rhythm of War (Stormlight Archives #4) when my library hold for Thrawn (#1) became available. I've never read a Star Wars novel so I decided to start that last night. I'm currently 200 pages in and I'm really enjoying it so far.

  • I don't think it is currently available. I've been blocking non-English magazines/communities left and right just to keep them out of my feed for now. I hope a change will eventually be on the way, but I also hope Ernest is remembering to eat and sleep and just gets to it when he gets to it.

  • I had no idea about Silo. Funny enough, Wool is on my library holds list currently. My wife and I just finished Severance and are looking for something to fill the void that show left.

  • The only thing I make sure to do is to remove and bones first, but usually by the time it's ready for shredding, it's already pretty much separated from the bone.

  • Honestly just salmon and broccoli for me. Fish, seasoning, butter, garlic, broccoli (with seasoning of course). Roast the broccoli and throw in the salmon when there are 10 or so minutes left, and done. It's what we do when we're tired after work but don't feel like spending the money to order something.

  • A big positive is that it is the reason I'm dipping into genres I don't normally touch. I'm playing Chained Echoes right now, which is a modern-day 16-bit RPG. I normally don't bother with those, because if I'm at my PC with a 3080TI in it, I'm not playing a 16-bit game, and my PS5 is already building a bit of a backlog with so many good games coming, so I don't play smaller games when I'm on my big plush couch, I want to play stuff that takes advantage of the hardware and tends to be more cinematic. On Deck, I'm playing these smaller games while laying in bed next to my wife while we have the TV on. It's also nice to take to hotels when I travel for work, which I used to take my PS5 for. The hotel TVs always suck and you can't adjust any settings so it's nice to not be lugging the PS5 around any more.
The only drawback is the weight; my wrists start to get tired after 45 minutes or so, so I need to sit up or adjust my position to keep playing comfortably.

  • I'm running from the foot soldiers from Power Rangers and leaping from rooftop to rooftop. I never remember any of the details but I've been having that one for 30 years.

  • Kitchen Aid mixer. Versatile as hell, we use it for so many things. Making pulled meat is a LOT easier to toss into the bowl and flip a switch than it is to do by hand.

  • kbinauts is one I've seen that I don't hate. Kbinners is probably my preferred.

  • You will be absolutely miserable. I was leaking blood out of my mouth for days after mine and the pain was seriously intense. Heavy dental surgery like that requires rest to recover properly.

  • On Reddit I always felt like a raindrop in an ocean. I'm just one of way too many, and very little of what I wrote was ever seen or engaged with. That was discouraging at times, especially when I put plenty of thought or research into my reply, only for it to have no engagement while typical low-effort replies like "this!" Or "I'm a simple person I see x I updoot" always rise to the top. It was starting to feel like all the other social media I've quit over the years, and I was originally there because it felt like a forum, not social media. I'm on kbin now and I'm getting the feeling I got from posting on forums like Playstation Underground when I was younger. I even recognize user avatars across different threads and magazines/communities, which definitely reminds me of forums of old. Who knows what it will become but the federated nature of it means it can feel as big or small as I want it to, which is what is keeping me invested.

  • I browse all/active on kbin and it just keeps those from popping up when there are newer or popular threads. Like, I'm not interested in furry stuff so I blocked all those so that they don't populate on my feed no matter how I sort it.

  • Looks like I'm currently at 79. I have at least twice that blocked as I try to customize my experience as much as possible.

  • I once added a bottle of cherry Pepsi to my crock pot when making pulled pork and it was damn good.

  • I'm on mobile but this is what the sidebar would look like. I will make a post point here, I don't run that magazine tho.

  • Pretty neat, I'll check it out for a few days and see how I like it.

  • Arkham Asylum is my favorite. I prefer the smaller, more contained environment of the Asylum over the big open city.

  • I'm eating a homemade breakfast sandwich while looking at this and I'm still jealous.
