Oh I will never support a terrorist organization, so fuck hamas. But Israel state is by far the greater terrorist organization at this point. And no one buys the rhetoric that war goes on because of Hamas. How many times has Israel already killed the critical leaders of Hamas? And yet they still continue to terrorize and ethnically cleanse people of Gaza because of a terrorist organisation whose key leadership they have killed multiple times? That is what I call bs. This war is just a casus belli for the Netanyahu's government to stay in power so he has no intention of letting it end before he gets all its spoils. And apparently about 70 to 80 percent of Israeli people unfortunately share his views. It is insane how delusional it is to expect respect and peaceful reactions from your neighbours when all you do is spread hate and fear towards them.

And this is not the only example of deep state planting moles in terrorist organizations, be it to know in advance what they will do or to steer them towards actions which you think is beneficial to keep an oppressive government in place.

I mean a dose of realism and honesty from parents is a much needed commodity these days but this is too much. Especially if the kid has proved so much dedication for an activity I think he/she/they deserves praise for only that to start with. I also think that comparing your kids with others' kids is quite problematic and opens the door to a life long trauma of excessive self criticality and too much perfectionism.

Not really, it is more like saying "I am going to move to another dictatorship". In both cases, lose enough of your "members" and your organisation becomes significantly weaker.

Also iPhone has been quite constant about its motivations and priorities quite from the start (even if did not announce it publicly lol). Android however was a product of a company who started its life with the motto "don't be evil" and is now trying to monopolize the shit out of everything, including its users free time. I am not even sure this can even be classified as a lesser of two evils scenario anymore.

Yea fully conscious AGIs obviously shouldn't be used for that purpose, that is not different from slavery. Whether or not it could be researched ethically is even not sure. Doesn't mean we should stop thinking about it though.

I am thinking more like if there ever was an energy efficient and less error prone version of the LLMs today, it could in principal be beneficial if they were used to deal with mundane tasks, reducing work times while keeping the same workforce and salary. We all know it is hard to push things that way because soon as there is some tech that is capable of automated work, CEOs, and shareholders will insist on reducing the workforce to increase profits. So for non general AI to be useful to humanity, we obviously need some sort of social reform along with it too. Which does make it very hard to turn the net negative effects of current AI tech to positive. But this also does not make non general AI research inherently evil. Evil people will almost always try to monopolize on new tech to increase their profits at the cost of destroying other people's livelihoods. One can categorize even advances in computer tech or dedicated software in the same bucket.

As to the question of moderation, I was actually added to the mod list without asking for it. Happy to be removed as I am not a very active mod.

The prosecutor here is not talking about the typical shooter copy cat, he is talking about hundreds of thousands of people who felt sympathy towards the person who killed this CEO (whether it be Luigi or someone else). So they are not really the same thing.

Moreover the sheer amount of support Luigi gets from all types of people tells what the difference is.

I feel like most people who hate AI really hate the dipshits who monopolized the sector and have been blowing it like a balloon, fooling oaf CEOs and destroying people's livelihood in exchange of profit.

AGI research, if it achieves its end goals, can help us also learn a lot of things about consciousness, creativity, feelings, mental diseases etc etc (along with a horde of ethical problems too...). Moreover if AI was properly used for benefit of humanity to ease the burden of mundane tasks and give people more time for their life and hobbies, it could be quite beneficial. But again we are living in a generation of power hungry, mentally deranged, soulless dipshit CEOs, shareholders and politicians. So maybe some civilization that comes later will make better use of it (provided we don't autodestruct).
