I was going to say this is pretty normal in the Appalachians. Long stretch of highway though forested hills with a single tall ass sign poking through the canopy from a distance marking restaurants/gas stations at the next exit.
I don't know about elsewhere but in my experience in the US it's mostly people feeling like it's an inconvenience.
I got summoned a couple years back and was only called in for one half day but the entire time I was there people were talking about how they all had better shit to do. Literally every person I heard while we were waiting had some story about how they had something else they needed to be doing that week
My personal version of this, since the Republicans always call themselves the party of Abe Lincoln I spent the entirety of Bidens presidency trying to get a get joke setup for why do the Republicans call themselves the party of A. Blinken referencing Bidens secretary of state. But this doesn't work audibly in any way.
That's great, in the opposite direction years I had a neighbor order a 5 gallon bucket of driveway sealer on Amazon. It shipped from a Home Depot using the Home Depot delivery service with free shipping. That one still confuses me.

This was particularly fun for Connecticut because Pennsylvania was in the way so they just claimed everything west of Pennsylvania but Pennsylvania didn't have a western border till like 1800ish so I'd assume that was a fun one those two states argued about pre Ohio.
