What should they do about it if it actually runs great on their systems though?
A lot of games only play well if you take some time figuring out a certain combination of graphics settings for your own computer. Then there is bugs and stutters that really is only happening with certain settings. Particularly these days with the four common upscaling models, you never know which games are best optimized for which model, but none of them are optimized for running without upscaling.
So for a regular reviewer to really give a game a fair score, should they run at the default settings? Would be unfair to expect them to know how every weird setting impacts the game. Should they try the game at 4+ different systems to make sure there are no performance issues and stutters dragging it down in certain cases? Leaving performance testing to dedicated performance reviewers and just focus on reviewing the game itself might be the best option.
I doubt it was easy for him either, from what little I've understood of rich folks communities.
You don't get to become any kind of LGBT+ billionaire by being open about it.
Its nice to be allowed to have doubts about it too, without panicking, even though the final conclusion is that yes I consider myself straight. Its definitly not as binary as SOME people claim. And knowing that, I am also learned to be a lot less trusting of peoples world views and "common sense".
I'm hoping it isnt just something as harmless as attention-begging that gets them banned?
It isnt just how Markdown works either, its how HTML works too: Text is grouped in paragraphs there too, not in lines or statements. Of course there is options to force a line break for when its necessary. But most text reads better as paragraphs. And most people overuse manual line breaks.
Im no physician, I dont know.
My chiropractor made a small suggestion that a walk in the forest could help, and I discarded it because I was already "walking in the forest" a lot. Except I kept to the well-trodden paths. And I walked on asphalt to get to the forest. And it didnt really help. And the exercises he told me to do at home didnt really do much.
A recent one I found: If you get a pain in your back that returns whenever you walk.. Take a trip to the wildest wilderness you can reach without needing to walk there, then start walking on uneven terrain. It is a huge difference on the muscles the body need. And just a forest path with a few roots isnt enough. Get off the path. Take the harder route. And be careful to not hurt yourself, of course.
Too long, I cant remember. But it would be criminal if Marco didnt ever say a single beef yeerky pun.
Why should everyhing be in threes and so damn final in big entertainment land? I like the "will return in Story Title n+1" endings. Even when it never even materializes. Or the eternal spinoffs of spinoffs (which a lot of Star Wars kinda already are). Or the crossover in other works as a background character easter eggs (which I believe Star Wars have done occasionally too). Or Marvel type crossovers (but comics, the MCU multiverse thingy crossovers are getting a bit tiresome by now) (also no, dont bring wolverine into Star Wars, please) (no, not Deadpool or Spiderman either) (oh, the alternative is putting mandalorians in every Star Wars you say?).
Anyway, let the protagonist and closest allies survive, let him walk into the sunset, and be open for more adventures another day. In their own or as a mentor in someone else's story.
And I thought it was us middle-aged (40+) and older who was the only one who still used them literally. Gotten the impression that younger generations invented non-obvious meanings that spread in trend waves, then stopped using emojis when it became too hard and social anxiety-inducing to keep track of the various interpretations of what a "slight smile" might possibly mean to the receiver. 🙂
Shame I can only see squares there. I wonder why. I can see wikipedia's. Does this work? Two hieroglyphs: 𓂀𓀀
Edit: It does, I can read those in my own comment.
Edit 2: Windows issue? I can see them on Android/sync for lemmy.
Linux itself isn't a company. And cant be bought up even if Linux Foundation is taken over. And its not like you support Linux Foundation when you download one of the free distros.
The alternatives.. That once they shows a bit of growth and promise gets bought up by a bigger and greedier company, that then gets bought up by one of the big corpos and carefully discontinued in favor of their own product.
But I don't want another biggest movie. Wish they could keep'em small, constrained, cheap, and focused.
You might already heard this one but I didn't learn until a relatively recent internet meme that its only here in Norway that something being "complete texas" means its completely chaotic and messy.
Also I'm using "what the fir forest" ("hva i granskauen") as a replacement for "what the hell" and I have no idea where I've picked it up.. Nobody else around me do, not even family. Works just as fine though against pain and annoyances.
Dream about the day we could install Windows on our cell phones and carry our computers with us everywhere. And play snake on our dumb phones.
Its doing pretty well when its doing a few words at a time under supervision. Also it does it better than newbies.
Now if only those people below newbies, those who don't even bother to learn, didn't hope to use it to underpay average professionals.. And if it wasn't trained on copyrighted data. And didn't take up already limited resources like power and water.
Or YOU could hack the company by stressing him about bugs and offer your help to fix them.
Hey, remember that mission in Mass Effect 3, I think.. Where you meet Tali and have to move from shadow to shadow to let the suit cool down between sun exposure? Or Chronicles of Riddick, where they had to get in cover before sunrise or get disintegrated by extreme sun radiation? Or Pitch Black, where some very aggressive animals came out at night? Jedi Knight Academy with its acid rain and having to cover under rocks while shield recovered?
I love Starfield so far, but the suit exposure and suit protection gone warning that barely have a consequence was a bit unimpressive. I was hoping for some kind of game mechanics to it. Instead I just dont care anymore, I just stay away from gas pockets and pop some medicine to fix random unavoidable afflictions as I go. Nobody cares if a suit has slightly less or more chance to get one affliction or the other. The beeping sound from suit protection is barely audible anyway (is there a problem with my sound?). And protection either last infinite or is gone within seconds. And doesnt seem to be related to actual temperature (or wind, or atmosphere).
I hope someone eventually mods in some cooler effects and consequences.
Or at least an IWD sequel in spirit: A game in the same engine as BG3, taking place in Forgotten Realms, but with a more linear main story and you create your entire party. Not that I dont enjoy having companion stories but I do also enjoy a simple dungeon crawler RPG.
Solasta is of course a good but less shiny alternative. I'm probably going back there when I tire of BG3.
Or in any other type of container. They bug out. One day they just decide to not stack with other gold. Or not be counted, nor retrieved on the barter balance button, it says you have no money despite there being a nice stack of thousands of gold. It is possible to manually drag the gold to the barter inventory, though.
From what I can read on reddit, this is a known issue. Common fixes are stuff like dropping the money on the ground and pick it up again. Or splitting the stack to get the money out of that corrupted stack. I cant confirm any of those because I went for the fix of spending every ounce of gold, but havent had chance to check with a trader yet if my new stack of gold is uncorrupted.
Sync for reddit used to be able to hide the vote buttons too on the cards and comments. I nearly never use the downvote button anyway, so hiding it in the 3-dot meny prevented me from misclicking it. I usually only showed the upvote and save button.
I'm not entirely sure where to post suggestions, so I post it here. Maybe get some feedback on who else would(n't) want it.
