Oh, cool. So now we get full transparency which MEP talks and communicates with whom, which websites they visited while using their private and official devices. That should allow us to build an automatic lobby register. And thanks to chat control, we can even get automated summaries of all those talks and what they did? Right? Right?

Da bin ich bei dir. Einen Rabatt sehen und kaufen, weil da -10%, -20%,... dran steht ist dämlich. Das funktioniert (in engen Grenzen) noch, wenn es irgendwas ist, was man verbraucht, was man sowieso nutzt und sich lange genug hält. Also bspw. wenn die Nudeln, die ich immer habe diese Woche gerade im Angebot sind und ich dann halt 1-2 Pakete (mehr) hole und die dafür nicht in ein paar Tagen zum normalen Preis kaufe (auch eben angenommen, dass nicht deswegen schon 25kg Nudeln auf Vorrat zu Hause sind).

Und die entscheidende Frage ist halt „Hättest du dir die Switch 2 auch ohne Rabatt gekauft?“

Wenn Nein, dann machst du insgesamt Minus, da du mehr konsumierst als du müsstest.

In dem Fall war es wirklich mein Kumpel, nicht für mich formuliert. Bin hier auch bei dir, aber etwas anders: Ich will eine Switch 2, aber für mich ist sie nicht den aktuellen Preis wert - aktuell habe ich eine Switch (1) und der Spielekatalog, der exklusiv für die Switch 2 verfügbar ist, rechnet sich für mich nicht in Hinblick auf den Aufpreis von 420-480€. Ich warte auf eine Gelegenheit zu dem Preis, der mit angemessen erscheint. Und ja, der Preis, den ich bereit bin zu zahlen wird mit der Verfügbarkeit von weiteren (exklusiven) Titeln potentiell steigen, aber nicht die aktuellen 420€ erreichen.

Und zu "mehr Konsumieren als ich müsste": Ich weiß was du meinst, aber mag die Formulierung nicht. Die wird gerne auch verwendet, wenn die Anschaffung dem anderen "nutzlos" erscheint. Haben "muss" man die Switch natürlich nicht. Aus der Sicht bräuchte ich nur eine Wohnung und etwas zu essen. Alles andere - Unterhaltung, Kultur, ... - wird da ganz schnell von "muss man nicht haben" zu "ich finde das scheiße, dass du das kaufst und würde dir das am liebsten verbieten." Liegt aber vielleicht auch daran, dass ich ein paar Leute kenne, die genau das immer raushängen lassen und versuchen anderen damit jeden "Spaß" zu verbieten. Ja, mit Geld umgehen ist wichtig, vorsorgen/sparen ist wichtig,... Aber man muss sich (und anderen) auch mal was gönnen und darf sich nicht nur über den eigenen Konto- bzw. Depotstand definieren.

In der Theorie bekomme ich ja 0,5 - 10% Rabatt auf jeden Einkauf*. Realistisch ist eher so 0,5 - 2,5%, da größer als 5-fach Punkte eher die Ausnahme ist.

Die Frage ist halt wirklich ob das meine Daten wert sind.

Umgekehrt könnte es bei entsprechenden Summen anders aussehen, wenn man es punktuell nutzt. Ein Kumpel neulich: "Es gab 20-fach Punkte auf Wunschgutscheine. Da hab ich dann für 500€ welche geholt (sollte also ~50€ Rabatt sein). Hab die aufbewahrt und dann gab es bei Mediamarkt sowohl x-fach Punkte als auch ein Sonderangebot für die Switch 2. Am Ende war das dann ein Rabatt um die 60€." - wenn ich nur den Datenpunkt "besitzt eine Switch 2" (und evtl "Schnäppchenjäger") für 60€ bekomme, ist das für Payback vermutlich eher ein Verlustgeschäft. Aber ich glaube es ist dann halt einfach der Mitnahmeeffekt, der hier rein spielt, sodass man eben dennoch häufig auch den kleinen alltäglichen Kauf mit Payback macht, wenn möglich und es das wieder ausgleicht...

natürlich nur Einkäufe bei Payback Partnern. Das würde aber bedeuten, dass ich mich einschränke, welche Händler ich nutze. Somit ist der reale Gewinn am Ende kleiner, da ich ja nicht jeden Einkauf rabattiert bekomme. Aber immerhin wäre damit mein Profil unvollständiger.

While dir . or dir C:\test\ works as expected, you could also do this: dir HKLM:\HARDWARE -Recurse -Depth 5 which will list your registry from the local machine from the key HARDWARE recursively - but only to a depth of 5 levels.

Yes, the problem is readability. You can get "better" code of you know the exact tooling and settings for compilation, as you can then better guess what optimisations and tricks were used (by the compiler) and you may be able to "undo" them. There are so many places where this will only let you make guesses. You write a loop in your code, the compiler removes the loop and replaced it with another construct that may be a bit faster to execute, but may be way harder to understand - or tedious to change if you need to edit it especially if it's not a simple change (character can now run faster!) but needs new functionality that would completely break this optimisation (but it'd be trivial to add in the original code).

Also all context is removed. You won't work with code like this:

The gist is... When you write a program/game/... You write source code and then compile it - that means translating the source code into machine readable code. While certain things do usually get lost in this process (e.g. function names, variable names, etc.) you can see the resulting machine code and make a valid assumption about how the original code looked like. This is not a 1:1 reconstruction, but will yield code that should compile to the (basically) same result as the original game.

If you hit a Jackpot, you find a version of the program/game that was used for testing. Those often contain many pieces of information that would otherwise be stripped from the end result (e.g. aforementioned variable names, function names and so on). If not, it's a puzzle solved with guess work and experience.

If you know some specifics about the game (which language was it written in, what compiler was used in which version,...) you can get some better results, as you can take patterns in the machine code and translate them back into what the original code was probably looking like based on the tools used.

In the end it's sadly almost everytime still a manual process in which you look at the resulting source code, make some educated guesses based on patterns that are usually used when programming and specific functions that are probably contained in a game and then check those assumptions by changing the code and see if your changes affect the part of the program you thought you were dealing with.

Say you assume a specific variable/value is the maximum walking speed of the character. Then you change it and try to play the game and see if you can walk faster now. If so, label this value accordingly and go on to the next unknown piece of the puzzle.

Microsoft just set a system wide default alias in Powershell for Invoke-WebRequest called curl.

While I get their reasoning for that (I mean, they also aliased e.g. ls and dir to Get-ChildItem which is the same, but way more powerful than the OG commands the aliases hint at), the problem is, that in all those cases the arguments don't match. Something that plays in the favor of Powershell is that arguments are not case sensitive and do not need to be written in full, as long as they're distinct - e.g. -Force may be abbreviated -f as long it's the only argument starting with f. While dir or ls is somewhat likely to be called without arguments (or maybe -f) that's definitely not the case for curl.
