FOSS infrastructure is under attack by AI companies
  • There's two prongs to this

    1. Caching is an optimization strategy used by legitimate software engineers. AI dorks are anything but.

    2. Crippling information sources outside of service means information is more easily "found" inside the service.

    So if it was ever a bug, it's now a feature.

    I am tired of people trying to have iNtElLeCtUaL dIsCuSsIoN about/with entities that would feed you feet first into a wood chipper if it thought it could profit from it.

    You have the best kind of house! Since its market value is already low you don't have to worry about all the stupid shit people fret over when their house is too valuable.

    What's leaking?

    How old are the cracks? If they're old, then whatever shifted already happened and no longer matters. Just keep an eye for new ones. Like a casual eye. Don't obsess over it.

  • What projects does the opensource world lack
  • A reprap style project could probably make a passable document printer- but what's the appeal? People only work on those projects to make new or previously unobtainable machines available.

    I just don't think it'd be worth the effort.
