When does something become an OS feature and when is it an add-on? Consider the use case. If you need to make a backup or restore data from one, by having this as part of the OS it is always available. It's line having vi installed; it comes with every Linux distro, but a lot of folks use Emacs. It makes sense that this should be a system component.

I'll still argue that HD-DVD is mostly the better technology. The things which BRD tried to claim were what made it better were not things which would fundamentally have stayed with BRD. The interactive layer was finalized first on HD-DVD and was better.

I think that part of the problem with your response, not just biblical vs public service, is that it is a bias based on your own experience.

Like the rest of us, the police are overworked, and it is reasonable to expect that they feel pressure to act and do, not to take time to reason and consider. For an office worker, they might get angry and have a short fuse. For an officer, that might have dire consequences.

What purpose do the police serve? In my youth, they helped get baby kittens down from trees. The officer with the glowing smile would hand the kitten to the little girl who needed help. The highly legible and large typeface said "Cop gave cat." Factual and warming.

This isn't the interaction I usually have and it isn't the interaction I've heard others have. Was Timmy and Suzy's Big Day wrong? Consider the difference between The Andy Griffith Show and Dragnet. It's a big difference when you know the people you are there to "Protect and Serve," but reality is considerably different for most.

On the other side of things, you have folks that have been underprivileged from the crib. Social pressures indirectly, if not sometimes directly, perpetuate their plight. It instills anger and a general distrust.

I didn't know. With the MP3/Streaming era, albums aren't what they used to be. That isn't to say that an artist and record producer won't put together a selection of tracks in a specific order to evoke emotion beyond the tracks themselves, but the era of the opera is mostly past; no more Tommy, or The Wall. Most people who listen to an artist today are going to acquire just the songs they want to hear and not the set. I wonder if it isn't more of a strategy to encourage fans to buy a/any complete album, instead of a selection of individual tracks? Hearing something on a full album you might not hear otherwise could be intended as a reward, rather than a gotta collect them all game of encouragement.

let's not even start about how capitalistic she is with 18 versions of one album.

I think it says more that she recreated the albums to regain her rights of ownership. Yes, that is capitalism, but I think it's better that she gets a say than the record companies for a contract she signed early in her career. It would be better if she used that position to relax the copyright and encouraged derivative works, but I'd rather she has that control than the labels.

Even if it were inspired, it is significantly different the way it's written. I've hit these same challenges before, so I'm more inclined to think it is independent discovery.

If a user can provide a password which uses 26 letters, upper and lowercase, 10 numbers, and an unrestricted set of symbols, but for the sake of argument we'll say 10, then there are a lot of possible combinations. If you are limited to only 12 possible at max, it is 46^12. Now you impose an artificial requirement that it is one of each, then it actually weakens that further by making the hacker know that there is one of each in there so it is 2626101046^8. Or roughly 910^19 vs. 1.3610^18. I personally try to use passwords which are between 16-20 characters long, or roughly 2*10^33. By restricting the total number of characters and forcing specific combinations, then the password is less cryptographically sound.

As a general rule of precaution, don't follow links in the email. Instead go to the website directly, maybe from a private or incognito instance, and reset it directly. If the email is valid, you're doing the same thing and if it wasn't you aren't drawing attention to anyone else.
