European alternatives to non-European apps (2.0)
  • Thanks for the feedback! We decided to go for it as we want to make sure that the database is not specifically designed for tech-savvy people. We want to give basic information to make the move to different solutions accessible and easy to understand for everyone.

  • European alternatives to non-European apps (2.0)
  • Thanks for the feedback! Definitely something for the next iteration of the infographic but I will make sure to add it to the database asap.

  • European alternatives to non-European apps (2.0)
  • Thanks for the feedback. It is not supposed to be a complete list. It's a start. You can find more alternatives in our database: https://buy-european.net/

  • Thanks for the info - I guess so too. Makes you wonder whether the mission is the primary goal. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Would be interesting to see if they remove informational content like infographics too. [clears throat] https://mastodon.social/@buyeuropean/114096858372085737

  • Plausible is an EU-made and hosted analytics service (self-hostable too)
  • Oh I think you mean the other website. Our website never used Google Analytics.

  • Buy-European.net - European database for products, services, brands and companies
  • Oh, you’re free to use whatever resource you like. If you want my biased opinion: the difference is like night and day. I find it slower and less structured, so I definitely prefer our approach. But I’m sure some people might prefer the other one - it just depends on what you’re looking for. I also read that they use(d) Google Analytics which is weird to me. But I mean we use .net and not .eu (as catchy .eu domain names were already registered) - so I guess nobody's perfect.

Another difference: The website you mentioned can be discussed here. This is a one-way street as I learned as my post about our website on the related subreddit got deleted and another user's post about our website got deleted too.

The biggest issue we face right now is filling the database but people are already submitting lots of suggestions using the form on the website which helps a lot :)

  • Great additions, thank you! I'm very grateful for people helping to fill the database by submitting suggestions either here or through the "Submit suggestion" form on the website.

  • European alternatives to non-European apps (2.0)
  • I hadn't heard about it. Once we add more business software alternatives to the database, I will make sure to keep it in mind. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

  • Plausible is an EU-made and hosted analytics service (self-hostable too)
  • This is what we use for our database as well (self-hosted). :)

  • Thanks for the suggestions!

  • European alternatives to non-European apps (2.0)
  • Due to negative feedback in version 1.0 I removed it from the infographic. You can still find it in the database itself.

  • European alternatives to non-European apps (2.0)
  • Production in EU, Production in Europe, Production outside Europe could be factors for example and is what I referred to as "European commitment" prior. "European address" would be minimum presence in Europe but formally incorporated there.

  • We learn and iterate. Thanks for the feedback! We still list Spotify in the database but plan to include quality factors in the (probably not so near) future as well to better differentiate between "European address" and "European commitment".

Version 2 of the European app alternatives. Feel free to share it :)

  • Good call. We will keep on iterating. :)

  • I'm sure at some point another user (with a more established account) will try to post it there and we will see what happens.

  • No reason given. Might have been due to the fact the account was new? Not sure. I even messaged the mod team beforehand to ask for permission but did not receive a reply, so just posted and after around 20 upvotes the post was gone.

  • My post about our database website was deleted too. Guess it's a more closed community focusing on their database.

  • Buy-European.net - European database for products, services, brands and companies

We worked the last months on a new completely ad-free database for European products, brands, services and companies. A few days ago we released the site. The website focuses on usability with a simple search form and a clear structure. After the technical development we are now in the process of filling the database with content.

If you have any feedback, we would appreciate it. If you like it and want to share it, we appreciate that too. :)

    Thanks in advance!
