  • Next step, train eagles to drop bombs on Russians.

  • If the hardware was fixed, I don't see why not.

Might not be as fast as the optimisations compilers do these days though.

If you have to support thousands of types of GPU and CPU and everything else, then fuck no.

  • I think we can be both. Most of our pensions depend on it for growth.

Might as well put it with the rich people money, because they rule everything and aren't about to let that shit sink in the long term...

  • I think the IronWolf drives are generally OK. But what's inside this is probably going to be a cheapo Barracuda drive.

You generally get what you pay for. If a drive is an amazing bargain, I wouldn't trust it with anything I needed. If you're just using it as another replaceable drive in a RAID array then whatever, I guess.

  • Listen up, woman. I didn't spend all this money on speakers to watch shit on a postage stamp.

Now hold still while I fire up Jellyfin.

  • Come back to Linux recently, with a mini pc and Ubuntu. So far it's Snaps (specifically not doing hw acceleration with anything moderately new) and Wayland not updating the mouse cursor when the CPU usage gets heavy.

While many Devs have been working tirelessly behind the scenes making everything just work, it feels like there's another group doing their best to break it all again...

  • Thing is, even if you look at all the Mario Kart characters, there's only a handful that are big names. Nobody wants to play as a Shy Guy. Even Link and Zelda feel wildly out of place, although maybe they wouldn't have done in a Links Awakening style rather than what they went for.

I think Sony could do an Astro Bot on it and put in a bunch of their other characters in there. Lego has potential if they can get a bunch of their licensed characters in there (although you know with that kind of money floating around, most of them will be DLC locked behind Harry Potter packs, etc). A horrendously expensive MCU license maybe with some chibified characters.

I think Mario Kart just has that easy "an idiot can play it" gameplay, but it doesn't get boring once you know what you're doing. It's a really hard balance to get right. The only recent attempt was CTR, and it didn't have that first factor at all, it was hard as nails.

  • Ah, the minority locator.

That first one is no longer like that, but according to Wikipedia was done by the Democrats.

It's a complex issue as well, because it's not always done for nefarious reasons. If say 20% of a city is black, they might bundle them up so that they end up with one black guy and four white guys running the city, rather than the 5 white guys that would come from a "fairer" distribution.

But it's all just window dressing on the fact that first past the post systems aren't fit for purpose. If I vote for something, I want that counted at all levels up to the national level, not just thrown away because my particular group of streets doesn't like it.

  • Metallic Hydrogen apparently just means "hydrogen in a state that conducts electricity". No idea what kind of pressure and temperate would form actually solid hydrogen, but from my understanding the gas giants are quite hot internally.

And by that diagram the core would be massive.

From what I can see it's a diffuse core, meaning it's a gas until it isn't, but with no real line between the two.

  • I think Astro Bot is already better than any 3D Mario.

We're missing a really good kart racer though. CTR wasn't it (and certainly not after they stuffed a load of DLC into it weeks after release), and the last one I really enjoyed was Speed Freaks on the PS1...

  • Does it even have a solid core?

  • For some people "the whole internet" is like half a dozen websites.

  • Is this just a thing for free users? I've not seen anything on there.
