It is a full fledged IDE if you install a lot of extensions. Without them, it is rather lightweight. I'm unsure what OP finds heavy about it.

There is no the AI. There are many, many different algorithms and datasets that we call AI. Saying that this particular issue proves that no AI can be used for education or other tasks is just stupid.
