  • Oh, another "Trump says [bullshit] but [yeah, it's bullshit]".

Look, I applaud that there are still heroic attempts to fact-check Trump but overloading our bs-detector is clearly his MO.

I think it's safe to assume that everything he says is a lie or at least a huge exaggeration and save some energy to try and build up some resistance to what he's freaking doing

  • I don't think Putin is an idiot. If he does like what Trump is doing, why would he say it and potentially make things harder for him? Putin must know that quite a few Republicans (whether they have the spine to say it or not) are at least uneasy about "aligning" with Russia. So why?

Is it a "whatcha gonna do about it" sort of power move? Is he trying to delay these "peace talks" because he actually wants to end things with Ukraine while Trump is effectively holding Zelensky's arms behind his back?

  • so.... Russia and China are looking at things like US infrastructure, Social Security and health care and are saying "we need to learn how they did this, at all costs"?

Edit: to be clear, this is not against the people who were laid off. They are the ones who took an underfunded system and kept it afloat thanks to their hard work. For that, I get why Russia or China would want them... But for the secrets? I'll tell you the secret: it was them. And now they are being laid off by the Interplanetary Genius

  • That's even worse news in a way. I thought a big share of these "executive order" fest was showmanship and propaganda. I.e. they were made to be over-the-top, largely ineffective and eventually shot down by judges so they could help Trump advance his "Judges bad, me King" position while at the same time strengthening the air of constant rage and outrage that his supporters seem to thrive in and paralyzes his opposers.

The fact they are actually trying to do this evil shit, covertly, with no particular intent to "go viral" like a wannabe teenage influencer is somehow worse. Not that this one was particularly subtle so maybe it was still done to be found...

  • For what it's worth, I didn't think they are stupid, just that they are doing blatantly stupid, over-the-top stuff.

On purpose? Yes it's a really scary thought that this might be a coup in slo-mo. And I mean slo-mo just relative to the more common "army abruptly takes power" approach, but it's still disturbingly fast.

  • It's kind of funny (the sad kind of funny) that people with years of legal studies and experience have to meet and formally rule that something blatantly illegal to the point of stupidity is... well... illegal.

"If I have a made-up position that my own government admits is not an official one, can I go ahead and randomly fire thousands of people?"

"A ha! Good question, let's see what my copy of The Legal System for Dummies says!"
