Thousands of authors demand payment from AI companies for use of copyrighted works
  • This is so stupid. If I read a book and get inspired by it and write my own stuff, as long as I'm not using the copyrighted characters, I don't need to pay anyone anything other than purchasing the book which inspired me originally.

If this were a law, why shouldn't pretty much each modern day fantasy author not pay Tolkien foundation or any non fiction pay each citation.

  • Why are folks so anti-capitalist?
  • And your second from the last paragraph is the problem. Clearly there aren't enough people who care who aren't in a predicament about whether they can feed their families.

Regardless of what regulations are put in place short of robbing the wealthy, thereby becoming the supposed villains, they'll always find a way.

Anyway, one thing I've learned over the years is there's no way to change your opinion or mine, not at a deep rooted level anyway. The minute people caring about capitalism falls below the other side, it'll probably be outlawed.

  • Why are folks so anti-capitalist?
  • Delayed gratification is sorely missing these days in younger generation. You found a cheap place to rent whereas I know people who stayed with roommates, 4 in 2 bedroom apartments and bought shared properties and did what you're saying while paying off their student loans.

  • Why are folks so anti-capitalist?
  • Because? If it's free market and people actually cared about climate then they'd boycott the businesses which aren't doing their part. Otherwise it's not an issue with capitalism. You're just arguing that you need to police everyone otherwise.

  • Why are folks so anti-capitalist?
  • Because basic economics is never taught properly in schools. People don't understand what free healthcare/education/whatever costs. Because, at least in the US, universities are heavily politicized by anti capitalist mentality.
