  • Only some of them were down (including mine, sad noises).

Maybe it's time I jump to a non-Cloudflare instance or maybe even Mbin...

  • That would probably require some modifications...

  • Yeah, but you can though. Go spec your own gaming rig if you don't believe me.

Also, again, there's pretty much no way it'll be $1,000.

  • Less than $1,000? Yes, why not? We'll see what the price actually is, but I doubt it'll be anywhere near that high. Valve was pretty smart about sourcing their parts for low cost and decent performance. I wouldn't be surprised if it were closer to $500 even.

“Paint and plastic do not make safe cycling infrastructure”: Confused motorist veers into ‘protected’ bike lane and drives towards cyclist, forcing startled rider to “jump aside” to avoid crash

  • Ah ok, sure, got it, understood, etc.

  • Yep, if you're getting suspended no matter what you do, might as well go to town so that everyone else is to afraid to try again next time because of what happened to the last attacker.

Effectively, it's an enticement to escalate violence rather than try and diffuse the situation once violence starts.

  • At $1,000 that'd be a hard pass for me even though I love Valve, I could easily build something better for less. I seriously doubt that'll be the price too, it'll probably around $600-800.

  • "Watch out boys, they're crepuscular!"

  • Compare how the teeth look on yours vs a new one, you can get an actual cassette wear tool but you should be able to see how warn down it is visually.

Feel free to post pics too for second opinions.

  • I bring my bike into my office and keep it folded up under my desk, but when I can't, I use a Skunklock Chemical U-lock and supplement it with an additional lock or two if I have to lock up somewhere sketchy. You can run a lock through your seat and use security bolts, or just take the post out entirely and bring it with you.

Be sure to lock the rear wheel through the frame especially if you have a hub motor. I also recommend having a tracker or three hidden on your bike, a motion alarm, and if you have a really nice bike, insurance specifically for it is a good idea (personally I just buy entry level but good quality bikes).

If you're looking for a quality cut resistant u-lock, Litelock X1 and X3 seem to be the best but I like the active defense of the Chemical (nobody has tried their luck yet lol). It's also good to keep self defense options on you in case you encounter a thief in the act (pepper spray is a great option - legal almost everywhere, light, compact, nonlethal, has some range, and will work equally well on aggressive animals).

DT Swiss Builds With Someone Else's Carbon Spokes to Shed 125g Off Their Lightest Wheels

  • I got suspended for defending myself against getting hit in the head with a chair when I was a kid. School policies are totally fucked. Guess they just wanted me to stand there and sustain massive head trauma? Assholes.

  • Damn, I should really go back and play this. Bet it runs great on Steam Deck too!

  • They are probably compatible according to SunRace's Q&A https://sunrace.com/faq-qna/:

Yes, our products are compatible with Shimano and / or Sram. Our cassettes will fit onto the HyperGlide fitting (for both Shimano and Sram drive trains) or XD (for Sram drive trains). For derailleurs and shifters the standard is Shimano-compatible, unless it has been stated clearly that the item is Sram-compatible.

That said, is the cassette still in good shape? Might want to confirm it's still got a good amount of life in it before you go to the trouble of swapping it out.
