Challenge to Texas age-verification on porn sites comes to Supreme Court.
  • Fascism wants an internet where you have to verify your identity to use it at all. Capitalists want the same, and they've already built a turnkey totalitarianism mass surveillance precursor to big brother on behalf of neoliberal "democracies". They will 100% finish the job for fascism. This was always the endgame of mass surveillance.

  • Cost to clean up toxic PFAS pollution could top £1.6tn in UK and Europe
  • Fuck that. We need to completely remove the liability shield of the LLC and enact a corporate death sentence.

If you don't do your due diligence and mass produce a dangerous or destructive product, the max penalty should be life in jail and being stripped of all your wealth, for all decision makers.

Ecocide has the potential to destroy the lives of every living organism on earth — up to and including extinction — and otherwise could impact all descendants, for evermore. Humanities rule of law should reflect that fact.

  • One in five Britons aged 18-45 prefer unelected leaders to democracy, poll finds
  • The west doesn't have democracy. We have corporate plutocracy, where the majority of state and federal politicians are pre-screened, pre-approved, and financed by the wealthiest individuals/corporations, domestically.

Choosing which corporate whore gets elected isn't democracy.

  • Exclusive—Chinese patents reveal aim to cut undersea cables
  • Considering how dependent on the internet our economies are, intentionally cutting an undersea cable should be considered an act of war.

Sabotaging a countries energy or water supply are. I'm pretty sure cutting telecommunications cables would have been prior to the internet. How it's this any different?

  • New USB logos will simplify branding on hubs and cables
  • Now the EU needs to make it a legal requirement that every cable sold includes an engraving of the speed and watts on both ends.

The fact this dogshit continued for so long is unforgivable. Capitalism is most efficient my ass. It's like the USB specs naming convention was outsourced to the dumbest, most illiterate engineers alive.

On second thought, the profit motive indicates the naming convention was probably done to intentionally create confusion and sell more cables.

  • Climate mystery rule
  • Yes. The corporate oligarchy owns everything now. We let the most narcissistic prosper with capitalism until they seized the means of democracy. Now the planet will be destroyed. Turns out greed is the great filter.

  • No matter what fork of Firefox I use, or extensions I install (like jShelter), I have a unique fingerprint.
  • This isn't as simple or successful as you make it out to be, which is why tor opts for normalization instead of randomization. There are like hundreds of variables with billions of permutations in a browser, and some combinations never appear together in the real world. If all the major vars indicate Firefox 136, but your user agent is Chrome 98, and your language is English but location is Portugal, and some of those are changing every 30 seconds, you could end up being more unique and easier to track than if you'd just used mullvad or arkenfox. Browsers and trackers constantly evolve, so you can't ever really know how effective any random combination truly is.

  • Sarah McBride is 'mystified' that Republicans are making trans people a 'priority'
  • It's glossed over because the entire LGBTQ+ community weren't seen as valid to the Christian anglosphere, and neither were the gypsies or disabled really. This is at the time when sodomy was illegal in most of the west — you could be fired or arrested for being presumed gay — immigrants, the disabled, and poor were all completely ignored, and the majority couldn't have cared less.

Not a whole lot has really changed sadly.

  • Found on a post about Kim Jon unbanning hot dogs
  • Tankies and fascists have more in common with each other, and feudalists, than they do with workers/socialists. I'm convinced the horseshoe theory is just narcissism presenting across the political spectrum.

Only a fucking narcissist could believe authoritarianism, control, and subjugation are desirable. That's why its delusions of grandeur and megalomania all the way down.

  • Medicare Versus the Insurance Industry: A Privatization-Driven Arms Race [by Paul Krugman]
  • Why do liberals still communicate the idea that privatization was done in good faith? For anything other than greed, corruption, or cruelty?

You could be forgiven for this perspective 30 years ago, but it's 2025. We have literally hundreds of examples of privatization all over the world, and hundreds of examples of it achieving less at a higher cost.

  • MPs reject calls by Tories for national inquiry into UK grooming gangs
  • It's the same calculated, coordinated, and synchronized approach the conservative propaganda machine has been using for decades. The narratives, talking points, logical fallacies, and hyprocrisy are nearly-identical across all of 14 eyes and the wider EU.

  • It’s a trap and we’re falling for it again
  • He's drawing attention away from president Musk and the whole H1-B visa debacle — dominating discussion the week prior — as well as the fact he's not gonna apply Tariffs (other than symbolic) or anything about inflation etc.

There won't be mass deportations or concentration camps significantly beyond the current ICE levels. American corporations depend on migrant slave labor, so they'll just bribe Trump with cold hard cash if he's too stupid to have taken the rights propaganda literally; the entire agriculture and hospitality industries would collapse overnight ffs.

The MSM knows this. They are complicit. They're just propaganda operatives whose sole goal is manufacturing consent for the plutocracy that runs AmericaCorp.

Trans rights, education, medicare, regulators etc are all gonna get fucked, though. That's a certainty as they negatively impact, or are irrelevant to, corporate profits.

  • Remember: When commenting in .ml you must remain pro-terrorism and pro-capitalist-dictatorship at all times

First comment removed from asklemmy thread about who's good/bad re Israel/Palestine is apparently too nuanced and anti-extremist for snowflake dessalines. Ya gotta fuel the hate and extremism if ya wanna comment round tankie parts...

The linux ban was regarding a comment (pretty sure the OG comment was different) about Russian maintainers being removed from the linux project. Obviously you can't call out capitalist Putin's authoritarian dictatorship in the communist sub, because ML mods are pro-authoritarian and pro-dictatorship; not anti-capitalist... At this point I'm convinced most "tankies" are just PsyOps operatives.

Downvoted and banned for calling out user who urged "conquering" and "splitting up" Russia

I can't figure out how to view my own reply comment anymore, but a /Ukraine user commented this insanity and I called them out — that cornering a sociopathic nuclear armed dictator is recklessly stupid, and exactly what will trigger a nuclear war — and got massively downvoted for "enabling Russia". 90% of the user base agreed with "conquering" Russia, and thought previous mini incursions across the border are equivalent; proving that nukes are a forever bluff.

The best part? After inspecting several of the mods and users comment histories I realized all seem to have nothing to do with Ukraine whatsoever, and appear to be young pro-war machine North American jarheads (or keyboard warrior wannabes), who sub to or mod numerous other military related communities.

So, Memmy is broke abandonware now, huh?

Broke timestamps. Everywhere. New replies will show "10 hrs" while the original comment will show "18 mins".

When viewing posts I see tons of phantom comments that seemingly have nothing to do with the post or are replying to something when they appear at the top level. Navigating to the post in a web browser shows dozens more comments (not from users I've blocked or anything).

Formatting of content across posts and comments doesn't match what the site does when I view it in the browser.

Thanks to the Memmy dev and any contributors, but broken software is broken software.

So, what's the best alternative these days?
