Married July 13, 2023

Hi all!

My partner and I were married in a super small ceremony yesterday. Attendants included our two witnesses, a dog, the photographer, and the officiant.

It was done in the backyard of my best friend’s mom in another province from where we live.

We had a month of planning, and everything turned out perfectly even though it seemed like a rough journey. It turns out I could not have planned a better day. The weather was amazing, the location ended up blowing our expectations out of the water - plus two of their neighbors also offered up their yards so we had an arbor and plenty of gardens to use for the photos.

Everything went so smoothly with the exception of one thing - but that was totally out of our control:

We’ve been together six years and the only people we told about the ceremony aside from my best friend and company, was my mom because I needed her help in the planning and executing. I rented the dress from someone in the province sight unseen, did my own hair and makeup, my mom made the cake and I decorated it myself the day before the wedding.

We had a lovely dinner at a local restaurant and they were super sweet.

I wouldn’t have changed anything - and I’m so happy to be a married woman.

A few questions
  • I’m not sure if this helps, but if I’m looking for a specific community I go to the search tan on the bottom, start typing what I want to find and tap on ‘community’ and it shows relevant ones.

  • Federation Lag-o-meter
  • Not the person you’re replying to, but I didn’t find it awful on mobile. The zoom by dragging worked well, as did the double tap to view the whole dataset.

For a quick browse I wasn’t frustrated at all and found the information I wanted to in a short amount of time!

  • Subscriptions (appriciation)
  • Also here from day 1 Apollo, and have abandoned Reddit as well.

I like wefwef, but I found I had a lot of issues with it where things weren’t loading or processing as well as they do on other apps, so I have about 5 different ones that I’ve been rotating between - and my favorite has been Memmy so far.

I do see many benefits to wefwef, I think it’s super clean and I see the appeal, plus it’s definitely something I’ll keep checking back in on - but I’m happy to experiment with all of them right now.

  • Hades

Lost our buddy Hades at 18 months old this past January after a quick battle with severe kidney stones.

Miss him every day a little more than the day before, especially today.

Sharing with you all how peaceful he looked in his last days.

  • Sorry to make this into a new comment. I’m apparently Lemmy dumb and can’t figure out how to reply in a thread yet.

The link you shared is the correct one I was referring to, but some of the issues have referred to what I was commenting about previously, and they’ve shared a forked version which implements a change to only edit in 5-second intervals which goes around new reddit rules.
