  • I'm legitimately curious: what is the appeal of this community to a remote user?

  • Of all the possible references to legacy characters they could have made, Edward Larkin was not on my Bingo card...

All in all, I think it's a pretty good setup for a season. Time travel nonsense is a pretty big swing for a kids' show, so I'm curious to see how it all plays out.

I think making Dal have a hard time adjusting to student life and not being at the centre of the action makes a lot of sense. As much as he clearly has room to grow, I wonder if there will ever be an opportunity for Starfleet to tailor their material to his personal learning style.

  • That makes more sense, since Osborne Village is some distance from the Via station.

  • I haven't seen the season yet, but the description here seems very in-line with what we saw in "Picard."

  • I'm not familiar with Venus Prime - it's apparently based on the short story Breaking Strain, which has been spun into a novel series by Paul Preuss.

  • A disturbing number of people seem to be unwilling or unable to curate their feed.

  • Have you checked your user settings? It's possible that the update reverted your preference to the default. i386 should still be available.

Never mind, I did some digging, and it looks like something has changed and/or is broken with the theme itself. I'll keep an eye out for a possible solution.

  • Donna had the most similar story in "Turn Left", but it did have a very different vibe.

Ruby's youth made a big difference, and I was amused to learn she received coaching on how to act like a 40-year-old.

  • Nearly a month later, I feel like I need an update. Did you pull the trigger?

  • Thinking about "The Boss" a little more...

The full context of the line is that the Meep is saying that two-hearted aliens are very rare, and that's why they'll be interested in the Doctor.

Is this a "collector" situation? Is it Kivas Fajo, thus cementing DW as Star Trek canon?

  • Not a very good headline, but I love the glimpse behind the scenes.

I watched this video the other day expecting pretty fluffy content, but I was similarly impressed by the discussion of just how much it was Millie Gibson's show during the first filming block.

  • I think this is probably the weakest of the Tennant specials - RTD seems to enjoy starting new Doctors with relatively lightweight, farcical instalments. I think that makes sense, as it probably helps the exposition go down, but they remain my least favourite flavour of Who.

I remember reading that Beep the Meep was some kind of legacy character, but avoided spoilers. Nonetheless, I didn't find the big betrayal very surprising.

Resolving the meta-crisis in the first special did surprise me, but it was probably a good decision.

Regarding "The Boss" - do we think that's a mystery for another day? It doesn't really make sense for it to be Sutekh...

  • I read it as dabbling in a little populism, despite having won the election.

  • Star Trek rarely does predestination paradoxes, but...sometimes it does. Your idea sounds plausible.

  • Regarding a third season, I know you have said it’s possible. What is your level of confidence? Is this now just like any other show on Netflix awaiting a season pickup if it does well?

Kevin Hageman: I would guess more than doing well. We don’t know anything about season 3 yet. But what from what I see of Netflix when they do pickup shows for a season 3, which is very rare, it’s not about doing well, it has to do gangbusters.

Dan Hageman: Most things only get 2 seasons.

Kevin Hageman: I think it’s going to be a real challenge. And I think it has to be bigger than just the Star Trek audience watching it as much as they can. It’s about breaking into kids who are [not already fans]

Dan Hageman: But let’s also put it into perspective. Lower Decks is five seasons, but those seasons are 10 episodes. Ours is 20 episodes. We got 40 episodes. It’s a lot of content out there. So it kind of comes down to: are there large watch-throughs of the season? Where’s the appetite? Do people want more Prodigy? Obviously, Kevin and I want more Prodigy. But happy with how we left things off at the end of the season 2. We feel like there’s a nice place to stop, but also a new adventure to pick up if we want to.

Kevin Hageman: Doing a show like this is not cheap, doing 20 episodes. So, my hope is we get a great-sized audience, but if it’s not big enough to warrant another season, there’s always option B. Which would be, let’s do a 90-minute animated film, the sequel which could start the film franchise.
