  • Jesus fucking christ...

So where do I switch now? Is this the moment I build my own email server and handle this shit myself? I really don't wanna...

  • “Step One: We kill God

I'm in for that. He can do with the corpse whatever he wants after, as long as I don't have to see it.

  • Bill Gates

Just a reminder that he's not associated with M$FT dealings in any way anymore.

It's all mask-off for Satya though, he used to at least play a reasonable persona.

  • From my experience, most software corpo employees are just tired parents with mortgages. Like the vast, vast majority. The higher up the pyramid you look the more cultish the vibes, though.

  • vaguely libertarian computer programming intern to radicalized full-stack anarchist

I just have to ask, is full-stack here referring to the programmer path, or is it "full-stack anarchist"? If the latter, I need an explainer of which part of anarchism is the back-end and which the front, and also where can I find the job postings.

  • I'm a backend developer and jesus fucking christ, 500KB? That's around the weight of code in an actual programming language for a mid-sized project, and front-end needs that much just for CSS? And CSS isn't even that verbose.

The whole Rust compiler is like 10MB and that's a huge codebase, including all the documentation and shit.

One more reason front-end work never clicked with me I guess

  • We span the wide range of people who intimately know what NRx beliefs are and how to define it, to me, who just knows they suck and are the worst and somehow literally every single bad idea in my lifetime can be traced back to them.

  • I'm not really in on distros and related drama (strong "just fucking use Debian stable" camp), why did Red Hat get told to fuck off from the kernel?

  • It's hard for me to even imagine a more apt description of a privileged silver-spoon moron than thinking straw is waste and people would pay you to get rid of it.

Human minds are amazing, I can't even hypothesise what thought processes, if any, led him there

  • it will have to be airtight but also its connection to ice will have to be so

just flex tape it bro why you so negative

  • The machines are super-humanly good at the things they’re good at. That’s not too surprising; so is a forklift.

Amazing quote, I'm gonna steal it.

Where is my Big Forklift lobby. What's your P(doom) from forklifts lifting us so high we escape the atmosphere and all die. Should there be a ban on forklift development?

  • Hey, haven't seen a proof of god's non-existence today yet, thanks!

This is quite literally "creep discovers dirty-talking, thinks it's a superpower even though he's terrible at it".

    EDIT: From Part 3:

So today I am only talking to the perhaps 20% of you who were turned off by this series.

Bwahahahaha! That's some funny shit mate, I've seen many bollocks number straight from between them buttocks, but this is fuckin' choice.

If you see a train entering a tunnel, think of it as nothing but transportation.

Hey mate, I think... I think that's what most normal people do? I sometimes imagine an action hero standing on top and fighting a villain before the tunnel slams them in the heads but that's just me. What do you think about, Scott? Don't answer that. please

  • My candidates, in no particular order:

    • crap
    • bullshit
    • bollocks
  • who believes he can hypnotize women into having sex with him

Wait I missed this, he believes what?

    Now this is doubly funny.

  • Under this, let's charitably call it, "interpretation", the Schrödinger cat analogy makes no sense, surely THE CAT is bloody conscious about ITSELF BEING ALIVE??

  • Can an observer be a single photon, or does it have to be a conscious human being?

The former. I'm glad we can stop the article right there and go home.

What the fuck is this question even? What the fuck is "conscious"? Do you think in the double-slit experiment we closed a guy inside the box to watch?

  • Regulatory agencies have been green lit to use brute force investigations, prosecutions, intimidation, and threats to hobble new industries, such as Blockchain.

Wow, Andreesen Horowitz, guy who wouldn't acknowledge government repression if a working class person was being bludgeoned with police batons in front of his eyes, thinks he was persecuted for Blockchain.

Makes it sound as if The Gobment sent SWAT teams to sieze the Means of Tax Deduction out of SBFs bloodied hands and then set fire to his luxurious Bahama mansion, whereas the reality is that they... Mostly looked at all the fraud for years until they had enough pages of stern words to warrant an indictment after it all collapsed to shit and people couldn't get their money back.

This guy would've been on Madoff's side, crying persecution on his arrest, wouldn't he?

  • That’s not how it works now but it’s a weird assertion to make about an unknown new generation of AI.

Your quote is about LLMs, not "an unknown new generation of AI". Research on LLMs dates back at least to 1990s, they're neither new nor unknown.

What Strawberry apparently is, is a machine that reasons, which is NOT similar to what Open-AI ever claimed ChatGPT ever was.

Sammy boi claimed waaay wilder things than just "it reasons" about his grift so gtfo, this is some incredibly disingenuous apologetics for OpenAI.

Also, "apparently" is such a load-bearing word there.
