New looks at Gareth Edwards's Jurassic World Rebirth and Dean DeBlois's live-action How to Train Your Dragon debut
I completely forgot they're doing a live action How To Train Your Dragon and still wonder why they're doing one.
...then I'd turn down the offer to buy one. 😆 Although, I've seen one of the real batpods.
Y: The Last Man and Runaways creator Brian K. Vaughan is writing a remake of the 1956 sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet
Warner Bros. has partnered with Action Vehicle Engineering to produce 10 Batmobiles priced at $3 million apiece.
Wow! Winning the lottery wouldn't be enough, you'd have to be one of the lucky ten that's picked!
If you didn't read, they're building ten life sized Tumblers, officially sanctioned by Warner Bros., at a cost of $2.9m. They're picking ten people who apply to be a customer.
Glen Powell has been spotted on the set of Edgar Wright's take on The Running Man, and he was running at the time
Yeah. The opening minute had me hooked. Once they started showing that he was going on a mission, I turned off. Stop giving me an abridged version of the film!
I agree. Back in the day, they made great teasers with footage that was especially shot for that purpose. I wrote a blog post about that kind of thing back in 2015.
These days I find myself turning off any kind of trailer after the first minute as they seem hell bent on laying out the entire film for you.
The Jinx film almost happened. There was a script, a director in Stephen Frears but apparently MGM got cold feet spending $80m on the film.

“It was very disappointing. It was ahead of its time. Nobody was ready to sink that kind of money into a Black female action star. They just weren’t sure of its value. That’s where we were then.”
42 years ago, the late James Bond franchise producer Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli received an honorary Oscar – the prestigious Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award. This coming weekend his daughter and stepson – Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson – will receive the same honor this Sunday at the 15th Gov...

Not exactly a massive revaluation but I hope they're bold enough to be different.
The hiring of Simon Kinberg to pen the next trilogy of “Star Wars” films has fueled a bunch of speculation. Last week the talk turned toward what era of “Star Wars” the new films would cover, with rumors swirling that it would be set after “The Rise of Skywalker” and would feature Daisy Ridley’s Rey...
No offence to Daisy but surely Rey's story is done. Especially when you end it so badly.
Branch out! Pick a different time! You've got a whole universe to play in!
It's when articles say it's "only" got 77% in reviews and act like that's a terrible thing. Surely 50% would be a truly average film.
Just in time for the holidays, we can enjoy Ron Howard and George Lucas' family-friendly fantasy adventure film Willow finally arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray with deluxe SteelBook packaging.
The George Lucas / Ron Howard team-up Willowmight have been something of a box office misfire at release, but the film has grown into a fan-favorite fantasy adventure classic. Now we can enjoy the exploits of Warwick Davis' Willow and his pal Madmartigan and the beautiful Sorsha in full 2160p with HDR. The press release wasn't specific about HDR grade, remember Disney is punching Dolby Vision onto their 4K discs on a case-by-case basis - so this one might not have made the cut. We'll see if any clarification comes out on that. But we can at least expect HDR10 on the BD66 disc with DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio. We also don't have a breakdown of extra features yet, but it's a safe bet those will be on the included Blu-ray. Hopefully, if this sells well, maybe we'll get the abandoned series' first season on disc too.

It doesn't look like Neil Marshall will be able to make Dog Soldiers 2, so he's turning his focus to The Werewolves of London
> Marshall wrote on Instagram, “Since so many fans keep asking, I figured I couldn’t keep the disappointing news to myself any longer. Your unwavering loyalty deserves better. For the past 6 years myself and original UK producer of Dog Soldiers, Christopher Figg, have been working tirelessly to negotiate for the rights to make a sequel with the US Producer/rights holder David E. Allen and his company Dash. 6 years!! That’s as long as it took to write and make the first movie. Unfortunately these negotiations came to a sudden and unexpected halt when, earlier this year, we were due to finalize and sign the agreements and….they disappeared. Vanished. Cut off all communication. Refuse to answer emails or calls. Why, you ask. I don’t know why. That’s the point. We simply don’t know what happened or why, but the end result is that we don’t have the rights to make a sequel without this deal in place, thus rendering it effectively dead. I’m sorry. We tried. We really did. And in Chris Figg’s case spent a lot of money on legal fees doing so. We wanted this for you. For all the countless fans who’ve asked for it. But in the end, perhaps it’s just not meant to be. The original film was lightning in a bottle, and perhaps lightning doesn’t, and in some cases shouldn’t, strike twice. So there it is…“
> Nineteen hours later, he revealed that he hopes to make a separate project called The Werewolves of London. “Since I dropped such a clanger last night, I thought I’d give fans a little moonlight at the end of the tunnel today… While I do not have the rights to make a Dog Soldiers sequel, there’s nothing to stop me making another werewolf movie…. Which is exactly what I intend to do. It’s early days and I’m not giving away any plot details just yet, the plan is to bring as many of the original team back for this as possible, and then all we need is the money to make it!“
I've done a quick search and it turns out that was for an entirely different film they announced several years ago. That hasn't started filming or anything yet.
I bought Brian O'Halloran's (Dante from Clerks trilogy) film called Vulgar as one of the extras on the DVD is the documentary "Judge Not ... In the Defense of Dogma". That was really interesting and it's easily found on YouTube.
There's also this bit of footage about Dogma which I think is quite funny as well! 😁

Lucas is known to be pack rat, he keeps everything. Did you know there's a version of Star Wars that doesn't use bluescreen for the travelling shots.
They tried using rear protection, think 70s TV shows when two people were travelling in a car and chatting, for Luke talking while driving his land speeder and possibly the shots in the falcon cockpit.
He's got all this stuff and more. Every time there's a new Star Wars documentary from Lucasfilm, it's amazing seeing new behind the scenes footage even after all this time.
There's deleted scenes from Indiana Jones films that have never seen the light of day for example.
There's a very dedicated team of fans who have bought, or been lent, cinema reels of the original Star Wars trilogy.
It's taken them years to scan it in, frame by frame and to correct the colour and repair the picture.
They're considered the gold standard. Search for 4K77, 4K80 and 4K83.
I remember interviews with Lucas and I think Rick MacCallum that said the original Star Wars negative was used to create the Special Editions.
The Library of Congress definitely has a print of Star Wars that was submitted in 1978. I think they also have Empire and Jedi but I'm not sure if they are the original editions.

> Over the years, the original Star Wars films have been subject to many changes and additions. According to Lucas, the original cuts have been lost to time. Well, sorry George. We the fans cannot let that happen. This is the story of how the fans saved Star Wars.
> This is Part I in a new series I'm creating documenting the fan preservation of the Theatrical Cuts of Star Wars. This episode focuses on Laserdisc Bootlegs.
This bought back some memories. I remember downloading the TR47 bootlegs which were really good copies for the time.

At last! Decent Star Wars returns!
I have discovered today that someone bootlegged the trailer as shown back at a D23 event in August but Disney have been busy taking down any copy I can find.
Welcome to the community! This is a great first post. I'm glad to hear its a good disc.

Borderlands is a genuine bomb, and Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said that "everything that could go wrong did go wrong."

I got the idea because I logged back into my matrix account after months and months of doing nothing with it! LOL
For a planet on the edge of the galaxy where nothing happened....a LOT has happened there!
Matrix is a secure open source chat system. I wondered if anyone was interested in setting up a chat room for people in this community to get real time chatting.
Just an idea.
He would spearhead the launching of a new saga in the beloved galaxy far, far away,
> The new story is not meant to be a continuation of the Skywalker Saga, the name of the overall arc of the popular and pop culture-dominating Star Wars movies known as Episodes 1 through 9. The intent here is to have brand new characters and a new story, and not have it be a continuation, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. (Although that does not mean that some characters could not or would not pop up.)
> Kinberg already has strong Star Wars ties. He co-created the animated series Star Wars: Rebels with Dave Filoni as well as Carrie Beck. The Emmy-nominated ran for four seasons, from 2014-2018.
> He also helped out on the relaunch of Star Wars after Disney bought Lucasfilm, acting as a consultant on 2015’s The Force Awakens.
> Kinberg is an established presence in the genre space. He had a hand in the Fox X-Men movies, being one of the producers of Logan and the first two Deadpool movies, among many other creative duties. And he is about to go into production on Edgar Wright’s take on Stephen King tale The Running Man for Paramount.
How long before this project is cancelled, or we never hear of it again! 😆
The article finishes with a reminder:
> Lucasfilm has tried to chart paths forward before. Kennedy previously signed filmmaker Rian Johnson (Knives Out) to develop a trilogy as well as Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. None of those came close to fruition, with the company facing occasional scrutiny over the years.
Netflix is about to release the second and final season of its critically acclaimed animated series “Arcane” – a title set in the universe of the “League of Legends” games. The show received universal acclaim, plenty of awards love and good ratings – so why in the world is it ending so soon? A new [...
> The feature piece, which goes into the finances of Riot Games, has revealed the company spent approximately $250 million to produce and promote Arcane’s two seasons which totaled 18 episodes.
> That works out to a cost of around $13.9 million per episode – the highest amount of money ever spent on an animated series on streaming or linear TV.
> The trade says the reason was that the “profligate spending and unrealized ambitions are a reflection of the company’s inexperience navigating the intricacies of entertainment production.”
> In total the first season cost over $80 million to produce and $60 million to promote. The second season came in around $100 million and entered production without scripts for every episode, causing major delays.
I desperately hope someone picks this up. One of the most amazing, imaginatively animated shows I've seen. I must see if there's any kind of physical release.
Nanny director Nikyatu Jusu is on board to write and direct a new take on The Fly that's set in the universe of David Cronenberg's remake
I generally don't like musicals except for Enchanted, which I attribute to Disney kind of making fun of itself. However I've never seen a proper stage musical and as BTTF is one of my favourite films ever, I went to see the musical earlier this year.
I can't deny I was really entertained all the way through but I had no idea there was going to be about five minutes of "normalcy" before another song kicks in. I think there's around 14 songs in total.
Part of the magic is what is achieved on stage for sequences like the DeLorean driving around trying to get up to speeds of 88mph. I feel some of that would be lost in a transition to film because, in a way, that already exists.
Wow. That's a lot of new films probably heading to PVOD really quite fast.
This certainly gives a better impression than the first trailer. It still looks like Star War is doing The Goonies / Explorers. 😄
Jesus Christ, both!! 😆 But only finger tight. Sod you bastards who get the screwdrivers out! That's overkill. 😁
