  • I see. Sorry for making a false assumption about what you meant.

  • So by this logic, if Democrats win back control of our government, they will also deploy the military to maintain a police state, arrest and prosecute political enemies, and deport immigrants by the thousands? I can see your point to some degree but I don't really buy any of the things I listed would be the case.

  • I don't understand your point. Democrats also historically haven't been the party of outright evil and fascism.

  • People keep saying stuff like this, but there's basically nothing that will turn me into a violent person outside of defending myself in the moment. I don't own weapons and I don't want to own them. I'd actually probably rather die than fight through that kind of a world.

I'm prepared for insults and scolding but it's true for me and many people. No amount of people saying "buy guns" is going to change me. And I suspect most people are like this.

  • I hope there are enormous protests and campaigns to pressure them into it, if they don't (which yeah, they probably wouldn't, left to their natural inclinations).

  • We're approaching a huge turning point in US (and world) history. Either republicans are going to mostly lose for a long time (at least 6 years if I were to guess), maybe until they demonstrate they've changed, OR they are going to succeed at rigging or cancelling elections so they don't have to give up power. I don't think we can expect much in between those two extremes. Makes my stomach queasy as hell to think about.

  • Cheez Its*

  • You are defending incorrect descriptions of things while I am defending nothing

  • I get where the author is coming from here -- I watched this interview last night. I was screaming at the TV a few times myself, however it's not accurate to say all the questions were easy, there was no pushback or followups. These things were all there, albeit somewhat weak. The most egregious part to me is that she didn't correct him when he claimed he "beat his bogus charges". She absolutely should have pointed out that he is a convicted felon. Such an embarrassing chapter of world history we're living through.

  • Ah, ok. Thanks for this response!

  • I don't get the joke.. ?

I am assuming there really is a standardized format that uses tabs? Or do you just see it as intuitive to replace the commas with tabs? I'm really curious. I haven't typically worked with huge datasets but when I've worked with exported/transitional data stored in files it is normally either a json or a csv (or a mysql export).

  • I too worry about trump bringing horrifying new wars. I don't quite see it as inevitable though

  • Never heard of a tsv

  • Yeah I know what you mean. The tendency to take one comment and extrapolate an entire worldview is out of hand. Not just on lemmy, but I expect better on lemmy.

I used to try not to block people now but I'm getting a much more block-happy feeling recently.

  • Block feature is good.

  • Thank you for displaying perfectly the point I made with my other comment ITT. Based on barely more than zero, you declared me your political enemy.

  • This is my biggest problem with this place. Disagree a little and you're scum. Someone recently told me to kill myself because I said "Nazis are horrible people, but they are in fact human". This literally got me called a Nazi sympathizer. Because anything less than saying they're literal cockroaches means you support awful right wing ideas.

People can't wait to find a way to claim you believe horrible shit that you never said and is unlikely you believe. It's fucking bizarre.
