I was held at gunpoint 50 feet from my apartment at about 6:00 PM, in south Florida. I also walked for miles through a forest at night under a full moon in Michigan at 2:00AM, without incident. I don't think the distance or time is as important as where you are walking. The mugger in Florida got a face full of pepper spray and went home crying with his gun.

@melpomenesclevage One Idea I had was to take a big battery powered drill to make a few holes in the street. Then drive some rebar into the holes. Prepare a large diameter piece of bright colored capped PVC pipe about a meter long filled with wet concrete with a hole in one end for the rebar. Slide the PVC concrete bollard over the rebar and let it dry overnight. With proper planning, less than 5 minutes doing crime on the public road late at night. #FuckCars #Bollards #BikeLanes

I have thought about destroying roads every day for years, every time I go outside. Not the whole road, just some key points to prevent through traffic and to eliminate some extra lanes. I see cars parked in the curb lane on both sides of a four lane stroad and I think, if traffic is still moving, those curb lanes could be removed and this could be a two lane road. Anyone know how to make TNT?

@Lv_InSaNe_vL Lewis and Clark walked all the way to the west coast. My father hiked from Corpus Christie Texas to the Canadian border through the Rocky Mountains in the mid 1970s. If you want to visit remote areas of national parks your feet and a backpack are the best options. Horses are also an option. They can be rented and buying and maintaining a horse is cheaper than buying and maintaining a car. They also do less damage to nature.

Every location you say you can't get to without a car was settled by Native Americans, for thousands of years, without cars. Ironically, your car is destroying the nature you want to be closer to. If you really love nature and the outdoors, using a car to access it is like being a toxic ex-boyfriend who refuses to let go and calls it love.

@Droggelbecher A single 3 meter wide lane in each direction can accommodate busses, emergency vehicles, and public services. It doesn't have to be made of asphalt and it doesn't have to be wide enough for busses everywhere. Every street isn't going to be a bus route. Splitting the opposing lanes with a line of trees and greenery helps keep sunlight off of the road and reduces some effects of the overheating of the air by heat absorption and radiation in streets.

I wouldn't accept a car if it were given to me for free. The car costs more money to keep on the road per month than buying a new bicycle every month does. Cars also pollute the air and crush people. Close the asphalt streets. Rip them up and plant trees and grass. A 9 foot wide pathway for pedestrians and bicycles in the middle. Subways and streetcars to transport people from one green belt to the next one road with access for emergency vehicles, public service vehicles and deliveries circling every 9 square blocks.
