I'm only half joking there, you could write a whole thesis titled "Increasing Merchandise Sales through Gamification" where different game mechanics, merch item types, and price points could be measured against profit increases to determine the optimal RRP for a gamified merch item to have a meaningful impact on revenue. That could actually help culturally valuable places like museums who survive off grants, donations, and the gift shop.

Some days I interact with some people that make me bemoan all of the safety guides that have allowed the idiots to breed enough that I now have the misfortune to interact with them.

The 6 7 meme has now done three things:

1. Not only has It has evolved it's chimera-ed with another meme (42) which is a much older meme with a lot of resilience.
2. This chimera of the two memes is an intergenerational mix between those that grew up and read/listened/watched Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy and the Ticktok generation. This now means that this meme is no longer just something one generation "gets" it's crossed the boundary and both can now enjoy it for the coincidence.
3. The intergenerational conversation can now go like this:

"6 7 "(gestures with hands)

"(Sigh) Yes... But do you know what's 6 x 7?"

(Uses calculator app) " ...42?"

"42! The answer to life, the universe, and everything!"

"What?"

"Look it up."

(*Searches and reads) "Oh... Woah, that's crazy."

"Yeah... Woah"

I fear that 6 7 is a meme that will now last much longer than expected.

Still, it might generate some new Douglas Adams readers, which is a good thing.

Yeah they do that because the people who own the media know two things:

1. The Dems will get criticised by both people left of them and people right of them, so raking them over the coals generates a lot of outrage which equals to clicks and views.
2. They can use this public perception pressure to ensure they keep passing policies that are, if not aligned with, don't affect the super rich owners and donators. Because the media owners can always dial up the jingoism and get the republicans elected again at the subsequent end of second term election.
