Nobody likes me, and it's all someone else's fault!
  • So... next step is going to be to assume George Soro's is paying off half the country to pretend not to like trump. Honestly though I'm just finding it disturbing that it's still over 40%. He's cost so many jobs, deported people who voted for him, crashed the economy.... how the hell is he still 10 points over W Bush?

  • LOL. They're self identifying
  • I mean it cuts both ways always on everything, Just like when the outrage on chickfillet supporting anti LGBT organizations, lead to conservatives calling for everyone to patronize them. Draw attention to an organization's stance on a pollarized issue. Expect both sides to act accordingly.

  • DNC pushes back on David Hogg’s plans to support primary challenges against Democratic incumbents | CNN Politics
  • well yeah... backing should be merit based not seniority based. You've been there 30 years, and no one knows what the hell you are doing, you've not fought for anything we want. Get lost... if you're still backing good policies, standing up for what's right and making people happy, stick around as long as you want.

A bit of why I fear the general concept of term limits. Bernie sanders is still far and away one of the best in congress. He's old as fuck, been there forever... but easilly in the top 5 most active senators...

  • DNC pushes back on David Hogg’s plans to support primary challenges against Democratic incumbents | CNN Politics
  • Yeah I would second the view, if it weren't for decades of the opposite of the DNC bending over backwards for it's incumbants. If they had a history of staying neutral and not regularly backing the incumbents. But as they do... then the opposite needs to happen.

  • Musk stepping back from government work amid plummeting Tesla sales
  • He needs to step away from everything until people forget about him. Him being involved in any company will not help that company.

My thoughts exactly... Tesla isn't falling appart because Musk has been too busy to help it. It's because Musk is associated with tesla and he's basically pissing off anyone that might buy an electric car.

There honestly isn't a solution for the company going under beyond...

    1. Sell Tesla to someone with a good reputation.

    2. Give up any means of trying to be a free market system, and pivot tesla entirely to being government funded.

  • Damn
  • I mean, just in general he was a genious, but also like many geniouses, he fell prey to a shit ton of nonsense. From how I understand it, he spent equal time and believed in equal importance on his study of physics, alchemy and finding hidden codes in numerology of the bible.

Sense of humor and personality, no clue, don't think that generally is super strongly carried in surviving literature.

  • Here from reddit
  • I personally like the community a lot more... though I suppose it also depends why you were banned from reddit as to whether you'll be happy here.

If you were banned for talking shit on minorities, trans people or something like that, you'll probably find yourself quickly banned from most instances here. Unless you just avoid the topics

If you were banned for say, being a fan of Luigi Mangione etc... You'll probably be very happy here. Point is lemmy admin's in general are very open to the left, and very accepting of more or less anything but intolerance.

If you were banned for non political views... then I guess it depends a lot, You can talk far more openly on topics of piracy etc.... in most instances.

  • I mean, all the events leading to trump winning the first time seemed far fetched... and the second time... insane. Honestly it was over half way into the 2016 general that I realized... oh shit this isn't just a meme and a joke of people ironically saying they support this lunatic, there's actually enough serious supporters that he could win.

  • Why are popes always really old?
  • You'd think there's not much reason for that... I mean, the god they believe in famously selected a lot of unqualified crazy people. Noah an alchoholic, David couldn't keep it in his pants, and had to arrange the death of one of his best soldiers to deal with it.

  • what is lemmy basically ?
  • "Why should I trust a bunch of randos with it? Why should I give them my password? […]"

lol that right there you should respond no one should have your PASSWORD (singular) to begin with. Companies large and small have data breaches all the time. If the same password is on more than 5-10 sites, you should assume it's been compromised by now, and explain that they need a password manager.

Far as it goes with professional companies, we are talking public posting social media, the differences between them are all public, the biggest thing is what they chose to censor. Twitters cool with letting nazi's speak, but censoring the left. Most lemmy instances are the opposite, but there even are lemmy instances that are backwards with that.. which is the point. We all have differing oppinions on where the line should be drawn on acceptable speech, Being able to custom pick one of 50 groups is more likely to find one that works for you, than picking one of 3 social media giants that will have their own rules.

  • Hegseth Said to Have Shared Attack Details in Second Signal Chat
  • Only if he admits that a mistake was made. Doesn't matter if it's his own, trumps or any other members still in the inner circle... as long as everyone keeps sticking to the "witch hunt", "nothing happened" approach

  • Someone like Kyle Kulinski and Dave Smith should do a "reverse" debate, where instead of arguing in favor of a policy or candidate
  • Have to say the same... kind of better to go to many sources...

Now if we are talking people like Kyle etc... IMO he does fairly well, but yeah as with all news sources, get a wide variety of sources, because all sources have something that make them worse.

I don't exactly see how "talk to your representative" is really useful advice. I mean write, call and do whatever you can to try and influence them... but it's worth noting depending on where you live, whether your representative is going to be honest with you, or give a shit what you have to say, are absolutely variables.

  • Simple music playing concept

    Hey everyone.

I have my homeassistant setup. Something I'm looking to do is a simple alarm clock, slowly turning up my LED strip, and gradually say turning on music in 1% increments. But I really haven't had much luck coming up with a not silly $100 + system to, just have a music player that hass can control. I have a basic bottom line tablet in our bedroom set up as a home assistant dashboard. we have a paid spotify account.

But I'm kind of losing my head trying to wrap around exactly what or how to actually get a controllable system. that can be set up in my bedroom without any costly additions to my bedroom. We have plenty of bluetooth speakers, but to my knowledge all of them require actually turning them on manually if they weren't playing music before. Which kind of negates their value for an alarm clock.
