  • Little magnetic shopping list board that sticks on the fridge. Lost a really wonderful dog a few years ago and had written a list for her that included a lot of quality of life stuff for her final days.

After she passed, I just never wrote on that board again. It got packed and moved to a new house where it sits once again on the refrigerator. Time has hardened the ink on the board and it won't come off again, but I just physically can't throw it away.

It's stupid. She's been gone 4 years now. I'm just powerless xD

  • I mean, it's inconsequential in the grand scheme of things but Americans have been asking to get rid of changing the clocks every year and nobody's just.... DONE IT. It's an act of goodwill if nothing else.

  • Moreover while there's no proof it HAS been done, inserting some new bit of code in a Chinese owned app could perform security breaches inside the user's phones. I'm not even sure they'd be interested in MY info, but they sure would like to have access to my company's network complete with VPN.

  • This is accurate really. Linux Mint is excellent for people who want to get away from Windows and learn Linux because it looks similar. Bazzite, however, especially the KDE version, honestly looks better than Windows at this point, imo.

In addition to making gaming much much easier, it also has an atomic code core, meaning that all the stuff you will eventually break on Linux Mint by playing around with different programs... and eventually lead to a new Linux user re-installing... is almost non-existent. Programs are installed in their own space with their own dependencies, meaning that they don't encroach on any other programs using similar drivers, configurations, etc. When those programs are uninstalled, they're just gone.

So if you can finally game on a Linux distro, not worry so much about borking a linux distro, and it looks and feels both modern and intuitive at the same time...

Why not put in on a spare laptop or something and get some hours in? Microsoft needs some serious pruning and unfortunately they seem immune to criticism that doesn't come in the way of lost revenue.

  • Gaming PCs are like cars, imo. You should be trying to get like 8 years out of them before you replace it.

Unlike most cars, most gaming PCs can then upgraded. Then they can be repurposed.

  • Installed Bazzite on a laptop during Christmas Break while bored at my folks and was delighted at how well it ran. Hope my statistic counted even if it was at the last second!

Edit to say that the only thing I had trouble with was getting an OpenVPN split connection to run, consulted AI, and even had THAT sorted in half an hour. While there are many criticisms of AI, I don't think harnessing its power to help new users administer Linux is anything short of game changing.

  • I'm just a little confused by how he thinks this is a strategy, but maybe I'm uninformed.

Just before Christmas, they achieved their goal of pushing through a record 235 judicial nominations, more confirmations in a single administration than any since the Jimmy Carter White House.

Nominations. And these get confirmed how? In a MAGA world? Or have they already been confirmed. Would be cool if the article, you know, included that.

Edit because I did their work for them. https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/12/20/fact-sheet-president-biden-secures-confirmation-of-235th-federal-judge/
